I am currently a freshman at UIC (University of Illinois at Chicago) and already I hate it. Its basically a community college you can dorm at. I have been strongly considering transfering somewhere with a new environment like California and thats where USC falls. I would love to hear opinions about USC's gaming degree, its campus like (is it fun? are there alot of parties?) And also I would love to hear opinons on whether is worth the cost for me. Ive seen that tuition is about $20,000 a semester! And I dont even know if that includes out-of-state! Also if any knows how much more would to dorm there? Are the dorms nice? because UIC dorms suck!

I don’t know anything about the gaming (Interactive Media?) degree.

Yes, the campus is fun.

Yes, there are generally parties.

The dorms I am in are great (new, air-conditioned), but I don’t think there is a transfer housing guarantee (you will have to check on that) so you might have to live off-campus (lots of students do). If you do get a dorm, they cost about $12,000 - $14,000 per year including a full meal plan.

It won’t matter if you are out-of-state, because USC is private and the cost (currently about $50,000/year including room, board, books and expenses) is the same no matter where you are from. USC does give financial aid to transfers if you qualify. Only you would know if it was “worth it” for you.
Where is it located? Is it in the middle of a big city? Im suggesting LA. And if they dont offer finacial aid to transfer students, what can I do to help pay to attend there. How are you able to afford $50,000 a year.

You should post this at USC forum. I believe Madbean’s son is in Interactive Media. She maybe able to provide you with more information about the program.

USC offers financial aid to transfers, they are very generous. If you are financially needy, they will work with you.

What exactly do you mean by a gaming major? SC offers a major in the USC Viterbi School of Engineering, Computer Science (Games). This major is extremely popular. In the School of Cinematic Arts there is an Interactive Entertainment major. Minors offered which may be of interest are 3-D Art for Games, 2-D Art for Games, Animation and Digital Arts, Digital Media -Based Imaging, Video Game Design and Mangement, Video Game Programming and Web Technologies and Applications.

In the SC forum are College Visit reports. You can read through those to gain additional information about location and the campus “vibe”. Here on CC in the transfer forum is a thread regarding SC transfer information. You may find that helpful.

The deadline for applicants is January 10, 2009. The SC website is [USC - University of Southern California](http://www.usc.edu) .
