Determine Income Tax for FAFSA?!

<p>I recently posted a thread asking whether I should state my parents are married or separted because they are separated but filed taxes jointly. </p>

<p>I am going to put that my parents are seperated and put my mother's information, but I don't know how to figure out her income tax because on her taxes, it shows the income tax for both my mother and father combined. Does anyone know how I can figure this out??</p>

<p>Ask your mother how much of that income was hers.</p>

<p>You could also have your mom run her income and info through one of the ‘free’ tax programs and make note of what the taxes would have been had she filed as a single. Tell her to print it or make a pdf (but not send to the IRS) and keep it in a file if you are asked for verification.</p>
