Hi everyone,
I was waitlisted today, and I feel pretty awful. I know that there is a slim chance of getting off the waitlist, but what can I do to maximize my chances? Should I send a letter of continued interest? Should I call my admissions counselor? Should I send in my quarter grade (all A’s)? How do I play this game, Vanderbilt is such a reach for me and the fact that I was waitlisted makes me feel even more determined.
Thanks all
Also, should I get another letter of recommendation? How do I submit extra materials? I won a national award but I’m not sure how to submit this information without seeming pushy.
I would send in a single LOCI and attach the quarter grades (or mention that fact) and mention the national award. IF you really would attend if admitted, then I think you should say that. There must be instructions on how to follow up with information - either directly with your AO thru email or uploading to the portal. I believe that after May 1, there will be alot of movement between the Top 15/20 schools because many kids are cross admitted. I believe Vandy took a good number of WL last year.
@LvMyKids2 Thank you! I will send my AO a message demonstrating my interest then get to work on my letter.
If Vanderbilt is your top choice, it might be wise to mention this and that you would attend if admitted off the waiting list. AOs use the waitlist to fill the “holes” in the incoming class and want to admit people they know will attend as it is so late into the college admissions process. Affirming them that you will attend dispels these worries when they are admitting off the WL.
