<p>I remember reading somewhere that colleges left a certain amount of spots for so called 'development cases'. Is this true? If so, how does it work? What are the situations in which someone would be a development case?</p>
<p>Someone whose family is making a substantial donation to the college (7 figures, a building, an endowed chair) the children of the president, senators, high profile celebrities, major movers and shakers etc.</p>
