Deviating From Recommended Schedule

There's a recommended schedule on my school website and I'm following it, but after having a feel for a class that I'm supposed to be taking this semester, I'm starting to feel that I am not ready to take the course. I'm thinking of dropping it and adding perhaps an elective to fill the spot for the dropped class. Anybody with experience in not following the recommended schedule?

Is the class a pre-requisite for other classes you have to take? In the worst-case scenario, dropping a pre-requisite can delay your graduation.

In what sense do you not feel ready to take your class? If you do drop the class, consider filling the spot with a class that will help you prepare for the one you dropped, rather than a random elective. That’s assuming that you’ll have to take this class eventually. If it’s just a random elective or general education requirement, feel free to replace it with another random elective or general education requirement.

go talk to your academic advisor. also consider if getting a tutor would make you more comfortable in the class.
