Aren't notifications going out on the 20th?

DHS letters are out - D received hers today snail mail. Nice letter saying she did not receive the DHS :( but congratulations on DSA.

yeah...so I got a letter saying that I didn't get the DHS today. I that it's awesome to find out especially sinceI didn't even apply for it...no project or anything. Good times.

My son got his letter today, too. No DHS, but he got the DSA, too. He's happy.

Stats of those who didn't receive it but did complete the project?

jax -
did you and son visit Tulane? If so what did you think. D hasn't visited yet but we do plan to go for Tulane Days. Just wondering if you have any advice - where to stay, what to be sure and see etc.

S did receive DHS, one of the Deans called last night to congratulate him. He was not leaning towards Tulane but this may put Tulane in a different light. Dean mentioned an invite to a week-end early April. GL to everyone else with DSA or DHS.

MarylandMom- We are going to be there next week, but there is that weekend in April which is our spring break week, so he will do that, too. We are from GA, and he's been to New Orleans (I haven't) and loves the area. I'll have more to tell you when we get back next week. Congrats for the DSA.
shefboyrdi- (my son's fav dinner) Congrats to your son.
GL to others, too, on these.

Jax, Thank You and same to you. Please fill me in as well on your Tulane adventure. I basically have only heard positive things about the school but we have never visited and would welcome any first hand experience comments. (this is shefboyrdi, I was under wrong name)

Shefboyrdi, congrats to your son! It does put the school in a very different light when you're in and they are offering you a scholarship.

I didn't get it with 1450/4.1/Nat'l Merit. Tulane is out for me unless by some miracle I get a large amount of need-based aid. :-/

Thanks Jax! Enjoy your trip and I look forward to hearing more when you return.

Marylandmom - S did not hear yet re DHS (already has DSA). We had visited prior to app and S loved it; it was just the proverbial "fit" for him based on vibes of campus, city, students he encountered, strong Engineering program; not quite as highly-ranked as some others he's been accepted to, but combine his great feeling for it with the $$$....

We stayed at Iberville Suites (has a Tulane rate and good location) but may be booked or Tulane Days. The ffing have also been recommended to me: Maison Dupuy, Hampton Inn St. Chas. Ave. and Hotel Monaco.

From our visit: campus is in beautiful area of NO (Garden District) w easy access to the Quarter, but lots going on right nearby (which we did NOT explore, but heard about). Campus "architecture" mattered a lot to our S (go figure) and it has a nice mix of traditional and contemporary architecture. Nice "size" feel - not so small as to feel like a cocoon, but not over-large. Good sense that it would be comfortable for an academically oriented kid. Not an overwhelming "greek" campus, which S is not looking for.

I know this is all generic, but maybe since you've never been there at all...

Didn't get it, but I don't even remember ever filling anything out for it (in fact, I KNOW I didn't fill anything other than the regular application out). Unless Tulane miraculously adds a men's track and field team and wants to give me as much as Georgetown, Davidson, and Wake are offering, I see a slim to none chance of me attending there.

JMMOM:

Thanks for the details - congrats to your son on the DSA as well. I'll keep my fingers crossed for him for the DHS. We have to plan a visit sometime soon as we are running out of time. I'll try the hotels you mentioned. Actually a Hampton Inn would be great as I have mucho points from my business travel and maybe will get the room for free (wouldn't that be nice) I can't believe we are getting so close to decision time. My D is starting to get nervous as the realization hits her. She'll probably have like two weeks to choose and I keep asking her to sit down and number the choices of those where she has been accepted and where they stand in the mix that way she'll be ready for the rest on 4/1. This does get crazy!

jax and others -I live in the metro N.O. area and if u want restaurant ideas, I had a pretty long post a while back listing some of our favorites. It is on the "old" CC board , I believe....
I have a sr. S also who was also hoping for DHS but did not get it...did get DSA...
S was all set for Tulane till about a week ago when he began to revisit the idea of University of Florida. Now he is deadlocked because of attractive offers both places. So he will be going to visit both again.....

phone call but no letter, and i live in LA...

I haven't got any notification yet. I'm scared they didn't even get my app since I sent it in very close to the dec 15th deadline!!! I live in Georgia, so maybe my rejection letter is on the way. We will see

-Pbar

S's DHS "rejection" letter came to our house on the 16th and we live nearby.

Just got the "rejection." I put about 100 hours of work into my project and it is getting published in the local newspaper, so I can only assume people who got it truly deserved it. Unfortunately, I may not be able to attend.
