I heard they will send a whole box!
We also were impressed that they personalized the acceptance letter with a quote.
DD24, Accepted with Reynolds Leadership Scholarship, 1490 SAT, 3.98 UW/4.58W. Loved how they quoted here personal statement in the acceptance letter. Classy.
My daughter just received a box from Dickinson with a Dickinson beanie, a cap, and a clever postcard. It was a really nice touch. Does anyone know if Dickinson is having admitted student days? I haven’t seen anything in the correspondence and I don’t see anything on the website.
The box was lovely!
Yes, they have admitted student days. The dates and registration are located on the portal.
Does the box go to all admits or only those that enrolled?
@Eri412 All admits get the box.
DD accepted with Presidential. Surprised and very happy!
Accepted with the 1783 Scholarship!
My daughter was accepted with a Benjamin Rush scholarship. Also accepted at American University but no scholarship. Trying to weigh the pros and cons of both. She wants to go to Law School after BA. Is one better than the other for getting into a top Law School?
My son is in the same position - accepted w merit @ Dickinson and also AU, Pol Sci/Gov’t major, & hoping to go to law school.
Prestige doesn’t matter that much in law school admissions, and to be honest, Dickinson might win the “prestige” argument over American.
Dickinson’s law school acceptance rate is around 94% so it is a great school to prepare you for law school. Medical school acceptance rate is 95%.
Just to be clear, that medical school acceptance rate you mentioned is not their overall number. It only represents the subset of pre-health students that received recommendations from the school’s pre-health committee.
I have never been able to find out what the actual number is. I even asked that question during the on-campus tour and received blank stares.
Dickinson has a law school partnership with Penn State, if that is of any interest. Pre-Law Curriculum | Dickinson College
AU has the attraction DC location vs Carlisle PA. I think DC might offer a lot more opportunities but also heard that AU is super competitive.
AU is a great school, no doubt.
But in terms of admitted student statistics, Dickinson and American are quite close to each other.
AU accepts 36%, Dickinson 35%. Dickinson is test-blind, but before they were, SAT’s ranged from 1220-1380. American, 1220-1400. Dickinson’s average GPA is around a 3.75, American’s is around a 3.65.
You can’t go wrong with either. I would consider going for the less expensive one, though.
