Did a lot of research

So as @brantly said I did a lot of research. I’ve compiled a list of schools I’m interested in as a finance/Econ major. I put a list in order of which school seems like the best match. I have a 83 gpa with a 1100 sat.
Suny Plattsburgh
Suny fredonia
University at Albany
Suny Oswego
Suny new paltz
Suny brockport
Suny oneonta
Suny geneseo
And just in case I’m thinking of applying to tc3 and Suny Adirondack.
Is this a good list? What are my chances at each school?

Yes, that seems to be a good list. Albany and Geneseo are probably a reach, but still worth a shot. The others are all good targets.

Agree! Good list! You will get into a bunch of these. Plattsburgh is a great first choice. It’s the only SUNY that has a trading lab, where you learn to use theBloomberg terminal.

You might also want to apply to a few CUNY 4-year schools in case you decide or can’t afford to go away. Just as a back-up. Baruch offers a finance major, although that would be a reach school for you. Which borough do you live in?

@brantly manhattan I live down the block from ccny

@brantly my brother Said I should do accounting because I can get all the jobs a finance major can get and also have more opportunities such as cpa. I did fail a semester of algebra 1 and geometry. I got a a plus in algebra 2 though. So would they decline me due to my rough grades early in high school even though I found my love for math junior year?

Apply to CCNY as a safety! Easy commute

What do you mean by “fail”? You got an F? Was that your final grade for the course? If so, did you retake it?

Nobody can tell you whether you will be accepted or declined. You just have to apply and see. Of course, you have to have passed all the required courses.

I don’t chance but this list may help you see where you stand at different SUNY schools.

@brantly i failed a semester with a f but got a good enough grade the second semester and passed my regents. But I really did well in alg 2 this year. I currently have a a+

Colleges don’t see your entire report card with the grades for every quarter and semester. They only see your final grades for the year.

@brantly in the nycdoe they do it by each term. So they show half year grades than full years on transcripts

Even for a full-year course? I understand that a semester-long course, like an elective, would have the term grade, which is really the final grade for that course. But are you saying that a full-year course such as Algebra I would show the end-of-first-semester grade AND a final grade? Your GPA is based on your final grade, so I’m not sure what value this would have.

@brantly when I look at my transcripts for 2 semester courses it shows fall semester and spring semester

Are you sure that that’s what college’s get? Colleges do not care about interim grades for a full-year course.

@oldfort You live in NYC, right? Do NYC public schools send a transcript that includes mid-year grades?
