If so, post here...i need to know what they said and if i should call too

Ok... I just called and spoke to the Associate Director of Admissions (I didn't fully catch her name). She seemed surprised and did not know of this. She asked for the collegeconfidential website address and said she'll check it out. She also said she doubted there'll be any harsh repercussions on those who unknowingly followed the link.

EDIT: Oh yeah, and I think she also said no decisions were posted as of yet.

so you're saying they think its fake? ...

I don't know... She did not say it was fake nor did she say it was true even after I gave her the exact link/address we clicked on.

I hope it's not fake...

this is such a mess lol

did she ask for other people to call her as well?

lol no, but although it'd suck for the Cornell admissions office to be bombarded with phone calls, I'd like for someone else to call and confirm what I heard.

I'm sure they're not fake, she probably just doesn't want to reveal any information until Cornell is sure of what's going on...also, I suppose some decisions could change between now and the 15th...depending on how Cornell addresses this, so she wouldn't want to confirm that they were legitimate.

If you are so concerned why don't you contact the Cornell Daily Sun???? The student paper? http://www.cornelldailysun.com/

I just called up my regional admissions officer and she said that a senior staff member was going to call me. I will let you all know what they say if they call me back.

Oh yeah! Spanks, thanks for reminding me. She also said that if you were accepted, they weren't going to revoke your admissions.

HOWEVER she did not say that site was real. Ok... I'm going to hope that I'll come home afterschool, and everything will be resolved (happy ending, of course).

yo, did she specifically say that the decisions weren't posted yet. or did she just avoid this topic?

My guess is that she was emailing the IT guys.....quickly to divert the whole situation to their office......while she was talking on the phone. Damage control, yet another security breech.

The Sun isn't in operation right now...finals week...

I'm sure they are monitoring sports and breaking news......as all campus papers do. The contact info is all listed, including the editor. Who are you kidding?

Yeah but I'd think that they're more worried about finals than something like this...its not really breaking news as not that many people on campus would care that much.

Campus newspapers are not just about what students are intersted in. If the NYT is going to report the story believe me if it involved Cornell the student editor won't want to be scooped.......

Absolutely nothing is going to happen to those that saw their decision early. I really wish this forum would stop being so paranoid over this little "leak". If I understand the nature of this "leak" correctly, then all it would take is some really obvious guessing to find out where to find the decisions. It's partially Cornell's fault for making it so easy. What does Cornell care if people find out their decisions 3 days before? It's definitely not worth rescinding acceptances from very qualified students. Someone might as well just post it and let people who want to take this "risk" find out already.

apparently you aren't a history major??? hehehe

"Campus newspapers are not just about what students are intersted in. If the NYT is going to report the story believe me if it involved Cornell the student editor won't want to be scooped......."

The last paper of the semester was published over a week ago.
