Did anybody else not like Stanford's App

I know I didnt, it was very restrictive and didnt allow for elaboration on any ec's. I also didnt like it how they specifically didnt let you send in any supplementary material ( I had a resume all ready to go!)

and ... no interview

eh, I guess I'm venting before I get my decision on monday

i like the personal statement questions, but I hated everything else. I love MIT application the most!

lol, I love stanford's app. it catered itself EXACTLY to my strengths, i guess :-) I loved the essays, and liked the fact that they weren't too hot on supp. material

I think its because a few years ago they were overwhelmed by applicants who sent in page after page of stuff

I know an admin officer who said that anyone whose app was over 50 pages was an automatic reject

i hated stanford's app... so many questions.

I loved Stanford's app. It looked so pretty. I didn't look forward to answering all those questions, but after looking back at what I wrote, I must say it's my favorite application of the ones I put together, and the one that best represents me. Which is why I'm REALLY glad I got in. :]

i LOVED stanford's app! it was the prettiest out of all of mine. :) hee! i sent in a resume all the same, and i sent in supplementary stuff.

stanford had labels. the other ones didn't.

w00h!

Restrictive here. Didn't feel it exposed me as much as I'd like...MIT's was surprisingly the best, P-ton's was really good, Brown was also good and Yale's was awful (along the lines of exposing who I am).

It got me in; of course I like the application.

The labels were so pretty! My GC wanted to take 'em off (she was using a different envelope) but I demanded that she cut them off the old envelope and stick them onto the new one.

nkay, lol; hope I'm saying the same thing on Monday afternoon!!!

i liked the stanford app too...mainly because it had more room to let them know different aspects of your personality...but i guess it doesn't matter anymore because i haven't heard from them and am pretty sure when i do...tomorrow...it will be depressing news...anyone believe in miracles?

it was just different...they wanted you to pick the ecs that best represented who you were...i thought it was okay...i didnt like the common app, it was too bland and eh..

Good luck, rumbean! I'm rooting for you.

The Common App WAS dull. The essays were unimaginative and looking at the grey background was like staring at a dusty wall. No wonder I got rejected by all C-app schools - I must've fallen asleep while filling the darn thing in. :p

I liked the essay that asked you to jot a note to your future roommate. To me, that short essay was the most relaxed and best allowed me to communicate through paper what the admissions board might have missed due to the lack of an interview.

I did like the Stanford application. I thought it wasn't generic and had room for innovation. The short answer questions, particularly, had lots of room for creativity.

I liked it mainly because Stanford is my dream school, so it wasn't possible for them to ask me a bad question about Stanford. Columbia's app catered to my strengths better (i.e. not asking for AP scores) but I liked Princeton's app the best. Asking for favorite web sites, movies, etc, I really felt I could put myself into the applion.

I must say that I did not like the app while I was filling it in...Loved the labels :) ...but now looking back it was definitely better than the dull Common App...and I agree with timbo, the short answer was kinda fun

I definintely thought the Stanford app was restrictive. I think it only allowed for like 6 awards/recognitions and it didn't allow for an explanation. Harvard and Pton had apps that let you list as many as you'd like and you were allowed to elaborate on them. MIT's also felt restrictive to me for the reasons I just mentioned.

disliked the labels because I didn't get an app in the mail so i had to print them out and cut them out and then i wouldn't be able to find the sheet and i'd have to print out a new one for something else.

also didn't like the dec. 15th deadline. essay topics were varied and i was short on time, really just depended on whether I had an answer or not, liked the ones where i knew what i wanted to say.

didn't mind the lack of supp. space because I could fill it up without feeling like I was stretching or just writing empty ecs.

i also liked the princeton/northwestern short answer portions just because they were more fun. overall i don't like applications though. A lot of prompts I really just didn't know what to say.

I liked the dec. 15th deadline because it really kept me on the ball with the other apps. I submitted Stanford about two weeks early, I hope that makes a difference.
