<p>I know this topic has been discussed a great deal on here. But, this whole fraternity situation (also after reading the Sunday NY Times magazine article) is really scarey to me. I hope my son ends up at a school with no frats. Out of the 7 schools he's applied to, only 2 have much of a frat scene. Interestingly, in his high school guidance office are several anti-frat posters. And that is an all-boys school!</p>
<p>I know that people will defend them to the end of the earth. I was even told by an admissions person at a top ranked LAC that they keep them only because they boost college donations. To me they just look like a way to exclude people and draw kids' social circles smaller (not to mention drink, drink, drink).</p>
