Did anybody recieve any acceptance letters from UC Berkeley already?

I know that there decisions come out on the 27th, but did anybody recieve any information from them early? I heard some rumous that they send out emails to acceptees early.

Someone's probably just messing around with you. The only way I think you get in early is you were accepted for the Cal scholarship. If you got that, then I think you're in.

Hmm. not the Cal Alumni Scholarship. The Cal Regents Scholarship. Those who got that definitely have gotten in. Or at least were told en masse at the day they went to interview.

Some athletes who are going to play on Cal teams have heard.

No, it was apparently just a regular application, no recruiting/scholarship involved...hmm, maybe he is screwing with me.

yes; those of us that were invited to interview for the regents' scholarship were notified, but no one else. official decisions will be up this thursday night.

Well, my friend got rejected yesterday =/

yes my friend got accepted and got no scholarship

How were they notified? Email, letter?

does anyone know how/when they notify about who got regents?

ravenclaw17, how was ur friend notified of his rejection?

Likewise, ELTACOGRANDE, how did he get notified?

The only people who know are Regents and athletes. If the alumni scholar notifications came out, there's a good chance that you were accepted...

a person at my school called Berkeley today and asked. They told him he was rejected :[

I heard a rumor that sometimes they allow exceptions where if you convince them, get straight A's senior year, and write an appeal letter, they will accept you around June. Anyone else heard of this?

^are you kidding? over the phone? that's harsh!!

Wow xserendipityx! I'm surprised they'd leak decisions just like that. Thats a total violation of all the Berkeley bureaucracy behind all of the deep analysis over a so-called "likely" email people have received. That said, that is very harsh. Ouch. :(

And there's always people who get in on appeal, but thats very rare.

I bet there's going to be a lot of people calling in now. Lol.

WHAT?! Can you seriously call in and know if you are admitted or rejected before they post the decisions online??!?!?!?

It's called an appeal, and Berkeley requires new/significant/compelling information (or important info that wasn't presented on the app). You'll have to write a letter, etc. Only about 10% of those who appeal actually get it. Here's the UCLA info on it (basically the same for Berkeley):

UCLA Undergrad Admissions: Appeals - Freshman Applicants

The real question is... did you rejected friend get email #3?
Haha...

what email ur friend got?
