Did anybody study for their classes that they are weak in and

have it effect their strong points? lol it happened to me and now im worried!

Well, only chemistry,maybe biology.

Studying in history made me do worse believe it or not so I gave up on that.

I suck at AP Physics and AP Calculus. I'm more of a humanities guy I guess. (I study for Calc but I just fudge through physics)

how do you fudge through physics?

absolutely. My physics class-which I stress over more than I study for-brought my AP US grade down from a 96-A to a 93-A. It's not much of a difference, but it's always nice to have that cushion of 3 or so points, should I ever get an atrocious grade on an assignment, I can recover.
Studying for physics made all my other classes except for AP US suffer (I'm like the star student in AP US) so I don't anymore. I just stress over it.
Other than that, precal honors and physics bring my overall GPA down by like .35 as always (it was . 31 last term).
I'm definitely more of a humanities/definitely social sciences person.
How much does this suck: my midterm GPA is a 3.55 and my average for everything but physics and math is a 3.9, but my average for physics and math is a 2.85. I wish they had different GPA's for Humanities/social science and math/science. This can show your strengths better.

THANK GOD I HAVE A SOLUTION FOR NEXT YEAR: NOT TAKE A SCIENCE!!!! Yay. I'm so excited for next year. It might be frivolous but you have no idea how much I hate science.

That's a little hasty. NO science?? Come on, take AP bio or Ap environmental, you won't need math for those. I can't imagine why someone wouldn't take ANY science.

<3 science.

: D

I almost never study.

I haven't studied for anything these past 4 years.

Then again, I started studying for math after I got a 50 on that Calc BC midterm XD

Midyear report is currently dead.

So, don't follow my example.

The rest of the grades are good though.

Last year I didn't study for any midterms and did fairly decent, but this year I am studying like crazy...mostly for Biology...so much stuff to undertstand. I am going to study for Spanish because it is currently my weak area. Hopefully I can make some improvement.

I'm not taking a science this year because I don't need to - I'm terrible at science, so APs are completely out of the question for me. I figure, I'm taking an extra year of math, so I'm good. The colleges I've applied to don't seem to care either, so I'd rather not torture myself.

But yes, I over-study for classes I'm weak in when I get nervous, thus lose information come test time, but I don't spend enough time studying for another test because I think I've got it and then don't, which I'm not prepared for. Or, I spend the quarter concentrating on a bad class that I relax on homework for the class I'm good in because I get bored when something is considered easy and I'm challenged elsewhere which also pulls the grade down in the good class, but does not necessarily change the bad class grade since I study insanely just to stay afloat.

It's just kind of a balancing trick, I guess, if you're academically challenged like I am.

Am i just good at science or is biology INCREDIBLY easy? Who thinks its actually hard?

no one....biology is the bestest best subject in the whole world. :)

I found Biology quite difficult, but I probably was not studying it correctly. I was only ale to either memorize the math or the facts, never both at the same time. However, Chemistry is easy as pie; I never studied more than 30 minutes for a chapter test or more than two hours for a final. Contrast with US/World History, which requires 90 minutes for a chapter test and eight hours for the final.

Studying helped me al ot for Physics, I raised my grade quite a bit. But even with studying I still struggle with math. I just suck at some of the stuff we are doing. All the studying in the world couldn't help me.

I don't think biology is super easy nor super hard, it is in-between because the topics are not hard to understand, but trying to remember all the little details can make it difficult. I am taking IB Biology 2. I just came back after taking my midterm and I found out I made an B (yay!). The exam review that I turned in for that class was about 12 pages long...

I probably failed my Spanish midterm since I studied so much for Bio...bleh.

I never study whatsoever, and I still can maintain a 3.5.

Bio is sort of hard. Our final last year was 25 pages of multiple choice and fill-in the blank, 1 essay, and 10 diagrams to labels. Our midterm was similar. It's not hard, but it's a lot of stuff.

^^^ 25 pages... wow!

logistics, how much time did you have for your 25 page exam???

My midterm was about 7-9 pages of mutiple choice, about 5-6 diagrams to label, and 4 short answer questions, so it wasn't too bad.
I was expecting old IB questions from past exams.

2 hours for the exam. most of the multiple choice and fill-ins were from old tests and quizzes so basically for those you didn't even read the whole question you just saw some of the words and put down the answer. 3 of the diagrams were from past tests too. the good part was that since there were so many questions, you could get like 10 or so wrong and have a 99.

one of the pages from the fill-in was also a 10-minute slideshow to watch and answer questions on.

i suck/hate bio. full of memorization. <3 chem and physics.
