She did pretty well, finishing Final Jeopardy with a total of $30,000. She advanced to the semi-finals, so she'll be on at least once more...

haha cool anybody on the chromosomal basis of inheritance for ap bio yet? thomas morgan hunt, the first guy to associate a specific gene with a specific chromosome, went to columbia

My friend called me up and was like " I'm watching Jeopardy. Did you know that you have to pass a swim-test to graduate"

Can someone explain the swimming-test requirement to me?

its just like one lap..dont sweat it

two laps I think.. And Engnineers don't have to do it. I guess Columbia thinks that they can't swim for ****...

I thought the test was 75 yards, or 3 laps. It's really not a big deal though, I don't think there is a maximum time so you could basically just float the whole time. I saw the girl, she was pretty beast. Definitely made me proud. Maybe one day I'll represent Columbia on jeopardy.

The reason the have the swim test is because Mahattan is an island, and if anything were to happen, they want their graduates to be able to swim off. It's pretty ridiculous and out dated, because honestly, swimming across the Hudson in a crisis is probably harder than I few laps in a pool. But the engineers don't have to do it, because they said that if anything were to happen, they are smart enough that they could design something to get them to lang safely. Apparently they made a good point, so they don't have to worry about learning how to swim.

No, its because the engineers would drown and die... god forbid :p

lol, i was watching jeopardy and i saw that

i think langston hughes went to columbia

and if you watch the movie "Panic room," jodie foster's character says she's going back to school--to columbia

o my goodness.. i cant believe u pick up details like that Encomiumii lol... maybe ill watch that panic room again. HAHA!
didnt jodie foster go to yale?

hmmm .. swim test.. thats so funny! when i heard it a while ago.. i thought it was a joke. lol.

but anyway.. do they do the swim test in the pool?
and can girls wear bikinis? lol thought that may be quite releveant for some people who dont own any other swimsuits.

if you guys watch that lame ballet movie called "center stage" the non-ballet guy says that he's a pre med in columbia

I think the admissions officer said that you're pretty much just able to walk across the pool to pass the test. I hope I don't fail it...I wonder if anybody does...

Yeah, I caught that too Encomium. Theres a few other times when CU is mentioned and I'm like "ooooo...CU!!!", but I can't remember them now...

if you don't wanna take the swim test, you can take Beginninger Swim for a semester instead (you need 2 semesters of PE anyway, so it's not any additional burden to take beg. swim)

Omg No Way!!! Center Stage Is The Best Movie!!!!!

eww they dont let u use all caps here

Little Stacey from the Apprentice went to Columbia.

ah i got a call EXACTLY like that freakish

oh contessa...

"Little Stacey from the Apprentice went to Columbia."

I found that girl incredibly annoying, at least from what they aired of her. It seemed like she was just constantly talking/asking questions.

My senior class advisor is going to be on Wheel of Fortune lol

I know, we can't believe it either.
