personally i was a little dissapointed... and a little confused after the ending

How could you be confused? She's shut in her well (a little cruel though...). I actually thought it was gonna be crap. The beginning of the previews (and film) was just horrible. The first time I saw the preview, I thought it was going to be a preview for Scary Movie 4. So when I actually saw it, it was much better than I thought it'd be. Still not as good as the first. Hostage was much better. But then again, I was eating Subway during that and wasn't working (I work at a movie theatre->worst employee ever).

the ring 2? not as good as the first one.

havent seen the ring 2 yet.

has anyone seen the Japanese version of The Ring? We convinced our Math teacher to let us watch it and even at 5 o clock in the evening the scene where the kid comes out of the well was REEEEEAAAAALLYYYY creepy

the japanese version of the ring was more creepy than the American one, I thought, and the scariness was more subtle. It didn't have as many jump-scares. I liked it. Although, i do find it kind of strange to have to read subtitles in a horror movie. that takes away from the mood a little.

the Japanese version was amazingly well made- even with the subtitles we got scared ****less- also I thought that the storyline made more sense- less unnecessary detail- no burning trees or horses dying all over the place :D

I never get scared from watching horror movies.. even at 1 in the night... don't know why, but most of the time it seems to funny to me. :-/

I disagree sucharita, I recently watched Ringu and thought The Ring was a bit scarier because of the detailed story. Ringu just seemed to lack any depth as most of the story/details are never really discovered, they are simply acquired from an island correspondent. In The Ring, we follow Naomi Watts character as she finds out all the information and puts it all together and that connected me greater with the movie and, in turn, made it scarier. Secondly, insane asylums are crazy scary.

yeah welshie thats a completely valid way of looking at things. One very good reason why I found Ringu scarier was because I watched it before I watched The Ring. Since I already kneew the basic storyline, I didnt get as creeped out the 2nd time

Similarly, that might have been the reason why Ringu wasn't as scary for me.
