I have a pretty high gpa, and i was wondering if anybody got accepted with 3 B's in their junior year(most important year) thanx,

ya it happened, my cousin actuallyy got accepeted with 4 B’s and not only in stanford but in berkley also !

I got waitlisted if that counts…well, wait, I didn’t have 3 B’s. I had 3 Bs and a D :)

I only had 2 B’s.

i had 4 Bs fresh-junior year; 1 B on mid year transcript senior year.

I had four Bs freshman year (out of eight total grades- semester system). I had three Bs sophomore year (out of ten). I had 4 Bs junior year (out of twelve). No Bs senior year. Note: my Bs include B+, which is what the majority of my grades were. I got straight As in math/science, about straight B+ in history and spanish, averaged B+ in english. So I averaged about an A- throughout highschool, although that is top 5% at a very renowned public high school.

I got in with 2 B’s junior year

bluebubbles- If you don’t mind sharing, what class was the D in? I’m curious :)

I’ve gotten 3 B’s every school year (1 B first semester, 2 B’s second semester).

soxfan2048, it was algebra II during the 2nd semester of my junior year. Yes, I’m terrible at math. And I absolutely love Stanford for seemingly not caring :)

I failed one of my classes. :P

this thread makes me so happy.
so glad stanford doesn’t only accept robots!!! we can be human.

I got 6 B’s junior year, and 1 B first semester of senior year &i was still accepted!

a 4.0 isn’t a magic ticket or anything, no worries :]

=] this is probably one of my favorite threads ever.

i was 15th in a class of 119, well out of the top ten percent. Stu (dean of admissions) wrote me a handwritten note on my likely letter saying “Come to Stanford!” and signed it.
i almost crapped myself :)

wow, i only expected one response! thanks guys1!!

i graduated 5th in my class of 800, with a 4.4 gpa, tons of extracurriculars, and didn’t get in. my essays must have been crap or something cause it just seems to me like others aren’t havin a problem gettin in with lower gpas.

im guessing these people are athletes/urms/legacy

It really does not matter if you get 3 Bs or all As. It is still a crapshoot to get in. Not to brag or anything, but Ihad all As throughout high school, significant extracurriculars, great standardized test scores, decent essays, and excellent recs, and I got rejected from Stanford. However, I got into Duke, which is not too much easier to get into than Stanford.

I also know of less qualified people (not trying to sound arrogant, but I am trying to make a point) who got into Stanford. In other words, like applying to any of the top 25 schools in the nation, it is a crapshoot.

So, stop worrying about your grades. Aim for all As, but if you get 1, 2, or 3 Bs, you will be fine. When you apply, make sure to spend a lot of time on your essays.

There are so many amazing schools out there. I assume Stanford is your top choice, but if you don’t get in, don’t think its the end of the world. Stanford was my top choice too, but I am very happy with the other schools that I have gotten into, even though they are not considered Ivy League/Stanford/MIT.

What kinds of classes were each of you taking? That has to make some kind of difference.
