Did anyone apply to a major that did not have Prerequisites offered at your school?

This is kind of a stupid thread but I was curious if anyone applied to a UC with a major that did not have major prerequisite courses at there college? I applied to a couple UC's for a major that did not have courses that articulated for that major and I am kind of worried about not having prerequisites to complete. Do you think they will hold it against an applicant?

haha it is an unusual thread... but i know philosophy for Cal doesn't have any pre-req lol

Which major? Like Rhetoric or something?

The articulation agreements just aren't that up to date. You may have courses that the school will ultimately accept, you'll just have to petition them later on. For example, most of the UCs ask for a computer science series that my school doesn't even offer anymore. If the admissions dept. thinks you are a good applicant, they will send your transcript to the schools counseling office for the major and they will make a judgement themselves, assist.org be damned.

Aside from LA and Berkeley, if you have a good GPA, at worst they will offer you admission to a different major.

Physical sciences, bio sci, engineering... they all tend to have some set of requirements that you must complete before you can be admitted to the major.

However, the admissions departments really want transfer students, so they'll find a major for you, and then you can move in to the one you want later on.

If you have a high GPA, the second-tier UCs will find a place for you.

I am a Classical Civilizations major and the two courses major prerequisite courses for Berkeley is Intro to Greek Civilization and Intro into Roman Civilization. None of which are offered at CCCs but I took a history course that covered ancient Greece and Rome so I hope that is enough. I have a pretty high GPA.

im going for philosophy/cal
No prereqs at my cc but I'm trying to register for a couple at another cc

@ Allygo: Anybody offering those online? I'm entertaining the idea of trying to double major with philosophy, but couldn't find any courses that articulated.

yah there is no CC that has philosophy pre-reqs.... you should take it when you transfer there..

San Francisco City College does .... I am a Phil major for CAL .... Go Searle Dreyfus........... umm i will have taken 10 or 11 phil classes by the end of spring yay

none on-line that I know of...I am considering taking them at cal state in the spring and possibly summer. I should not call them pre-reqs but rather lower division philosophy classes.

I should also mention that they wont automatically transfer that you need to petition them at cal...I believe this is fairly easy to do.
