Did anyone attend the Open House today or last Monday? Was it helpful in making your decision?

My DD and I just attended Monday's Open House. My DD was very impressed. I believe she will attend Emory based on her experiences yesterday. I may be seeing Emory through $45K eyes. It was rather country club like. I didn't see a lot of diversity. By that I mean everyone dressed similarly and looked similarly regardless of one's race. The campus was very quiet; there were very few kids milling around. The campus was beautiful, easy to get around, student friendly and inviting. The surrounding area was not "college town". Any shopping is a long hike or short shutttle ride. At least next year the shuttles will be going to the surrounding areas more often.

The dorms seemed very nice. The upperclass Clairmont campus is definitely a country club with its own Olympic size pool and workout facility.

I was a little disappointed in the food venues..there weren't many of them. But my DD felt very comfortable. Everyone she met was "just like her". This may or may not be good.

I need a shirt that says "My daughter and my money attend Emory University".

I attended. Needless to say, I was very impressed and intend on attending this fall. It was very helpful in making my decision.

I am sorry that the other poster did not see much diversity. I was able to stay in a dorm overnight and met international, northeastern, mid-Atlantic, and Georgian students (not to mention the diversity of skin colors and cultures). I do believe that their dress was similar (t-shirts, shorts, flip-flops), but I think that a lot a college students dress the same- it's not all about status.

I loved the facilities! The academic programs also looked top notch. I am very excited about the new shuttle services (it will combine the secluded campus environment with quick access to the city). I liked the idea of a pedestrian campus- it really made Emory feel like a suburban area. I saw a lot of people walking around the campus when classes were let out.

Emory Village was not amazing. However, students told me they are about to update the area. I was disappointed that I was not able to see more of the University's clubs and other food courts.
