Did anyone else get early notification of their admission?

This is a new program I believe. I have never heard of them doing this, and ordinarily the Vice President of Admissions Peter Farrell signs/sends the (automated) letter, by snail mail yet.

If they have “upgraded” to sending an email notification by John Buckley, Assoc. VP, and doing so as “early bird notification”, then great! Its a fabulous way to get the truly exceptional (and yes, it would likely be the people in the 75th percentile or higher of the applicant pool/profile) to become “linked in” , pardon the pun, to Fordham. Statistically if you hook in the ones you really want with super stats early, your chances of getting them to commit to Fordham rise exponentially. So I applaud Fordham Admissions for doing this! Good job!

To those of you admitted, Congratulations! It truly is an honor, even with your super stats. Fordham is a fabulous university and you will be very challenged.

To those of you who have not heard, fear not, as they get upwards of 10,000 applications in the EA pool and more than 30,000 annually total, including the RD pool in the Spring. It takes time to get through the process.

Welcome to Fordham.

It was a safety for me, 2240 SAT and 33 ACT. I was shocked to get this, as I was expecting something in December. Does this mean a chance at merit aid?

My son got one as well. For him, everything will depend on the scholarship situation. I assume that will be addressed in December.

Fordham is not a safety for my son. It’s in his top 3, but those 3 will be weighed against each other in terms of cost

It was a safety for me as well, 32 ACT (didn’t take the SAT), and National Hispanic Scholar. Really hoping for a scholarship, they give a few out to National Hispanic Scholars.

Congratulations to those who have been notified! My daughter applied EA to LC and has similar stats to those who have been accepted. She is also a NMS semi-finalist. She has not received an email yet and I am trying to figure out what the criteria might be for early acceptance. Did anyone who received the email apply to LC? Thanks and again congrats…my son is a sophomore at Rose Hill and we just love the school.

If you definitely need the money then make sure you submit your CSS and FAFSA (when applicable.) The fact you have all received very early notifications is promising. Cross your fingers!

Ohio, while apps go to same Admissions Office, they are processed separately. And with 10,000 or so early applications, its very hard to say when they advise students. The vast majority will be advised just before Christmas. So don’t panic or draw any conclusions. It just is what it is. I’m sure you will be fine.

And while many of you have stellar stats (congrats!), and are going to wait on other perhaps higher ranking schools (USNWR), I can assure you that Fordham is not a “safety school.” Its extremely rigorous and very challenging.

Congrats everyone!! Just a quick question: did anyone receive info about how to access the online system to check the status of your application? I got a letter in the mail saying my application had been received, but I have no way of knowing if it’s complete.

I don’t think Fordham does online app status checking. They just tell you when you are accepted.

We also received a letter dated November 1st saying application was received and would receive an email link to check on status of application soon. The email did not materialize and we were unable to determine if they considered the application “complete”. The letter also asked us to refrain from calling as this slows down the review of applications and that early action notification would go out around December 15th. No early bird email for us :frowning: It is one of my son’s top 3 choices.

BEK, I got the same letter regarding applications and also never got the email to check status. would they call if something was missing?

Tellch00, I figured they would notify us if anything was missing. And since the letter was worded rather strongly about not calling, I chose not to call.

I’m just a little confused. I applied to Rose Hill EA but I didn’t receive an email or letter saying they received my application. Nor did my friend. I’m an average student, I have a 3.3 GPA (UW) at a well-known, rigorous public school in NY and I have an ACT score of 34. Of course, I don’t expect an early admission. Just wondering if most people did/did not receive an email or letter.

Compared to the other colleges where my son applied Fordham seems a little more disorganized regarding application status. Most of the other websites have a portal where you can check and see what they have received and if anything is missing. Usually these portal are accessed under “Prospective students” or “undergraduate admissions” tabs on the college website. I don’t see anything like that on the Fordham website.

The letter we received was form type letter dated November 1st saying that they received the application and please not to call admissions because it slows down the process of reviewing applications. It also said that an email would be sent with a link to check application status but that was never sent/received. Maybe Fordham was planning on adding this feature to their website, but just didn’t get to it.

Early Action decisions (admit, defer, deny) should go out soon, perhaps as soon as tomorrow. As this thread indicates, several students with “outstanding” credentials (see previous posts) have already received an early action offer of admission from Fordham. Good luck to all of you still waiting to hear!

FYI, acceptance letter came today through US postal service…not email. For those of you who were worried about not getting an email - it seems that Fordham likes sending out real letters. We never did receive the email it said it would send (dated Nov. 1), so if you are concerned about lack of correspondance - maybe just give it some time. Very excited and happy to receive this acceptance into Gabelli School of Business.
