Did anyone else get that funky survey?

The one about leadership? I totally just did it...

Yep. I got the same email =]
The survey mostly seemed like one that would be used to track the growth of students' leadership skills throughout their careers at CMC.
Why, then, did they not wait until all the decisions have been finalized??

wd90: that's what I'm wondering...

Anyone apply to CMC but not receive a leadership survey?

Yeah... I was wondering if maybe they sent it to people they like or something, lol.

blondie625: that's what i was hoping, too.

if it was to go to every applicant, why not automatically send it upon submission of the application?

maybe it was a way to gauge interest in the school...? just a thought. i, too, would be interested to know if anyone who applied didn't get one.

trying to figure out why it was sent out, some questions for people who got one:

did you apply for a McKenna Achievement Award or Frank Seaver Leadership award?

how involved were you in leadership in highschool?

what is your SAT/ACT score?

did you apply ED?

for me,
1. yes
2. very; president of four organizations, one of which was nationally ranked academic team
3. 2260/2400
4. no

Well, I wouldn't think that it would be related to interest in the school at all, considering it explicitly stated that it has no effect on admissions.

Good thinking on the Seaver Leadership award though, that might just be it.

Yes

Fairly, editor of newspaper, assorted band leadership roles, self-initiated community service project. No ultra-important roles, though.

2160

RD

Leadership award may be the link, then.

Yes.

Very involved- President/Captain of three clubs, started a business, became the leader for a political campaign in my precinct. In one of my clubs, I'm a very high-achiever.
3.2220 SAT (took it once) 33 ACT is slightly better (36 math, 35 E, 34 R, 28 S)

RD

I remember ED applicants discussing this and I think we came to the conclusion that they send it to everyone who applied, because I think I remember someone getting rejected who got the email (I may be wrong though). I think it is just a way for them to get data for their research. And they probably get a lot of data from us, because we all fill it out thinking it will help our chances or show that we are really interested in CMC.
But I will answer your questions:
1. Yes
2. Involved. President of service club (takes up most of my time), Treasurer of NHS, Secretary General of MUN, Program assistant for study abroad office of local university.
3. ACT 30 (best scores in each 35 M, 31 E, 30 R, 30 S)
4. RD

I received it as well, but I doubt that it's based on anything like interest or chances. they were also pretty clear that taking the survey would have no impact on admissions. anyway, just in case:
1. No
2. Reasonably involved. Head of two newspapers, captain of Debate team.
3. 2230
4. Yep, ED-II

i think they sent it to everyone. my stats are no where near good enough for CMC. if i get in, it will be solely because of my essay lol

No

Not involved (no official titles, but in the classroom i tend to be a leader. that was prob mentioned in my recs, but like i said i had nothing official)

ACT 32

RD

it is becoming increasingly evident that everyone who applied got one (although, perhaps CC is not the best cross section of appicants). i just emained dr. reicher to ask if that were the case.

yeah, everyone got it. according to her, the response rate is typically 30-40%

Yeah, I took the survey. An inordinate amount of it was devoted to seeing whether or not our answers were consistent :-p

Yeah I was accepted EDI and a current CMC student said that the surveys are sent to every single person that applies to CMC and you will be sent the survey again when you graduate, no matter what college you go to. They will then use that information to show how CMC fosters and encourages leadership in their students and how their students graduate with more leadership skills than those that chose to attend other universities. It is basically some research that they are doing.

i got it but didnt get the achievement award.. :/

No

Very involved- class president at 2 different schools (9th grade and then again in 11th and 12th), prez of mock trial club

30 ACT

RD

hmm i didnt get a survey...
guess i didnt get in :( haha jk its okay...

Makes you wonder. I thought large parts of the app were insipid. Anyone else? Interested in other points of view.

Not really insipid for me, just seems like they're trying too hard to force us to be insightful.

just got the survey a couple days ago... finally lol

applied. but did not receive.

fairly active in leadership roles: varsity soccer captain, vp of NHS

2010

no
