I applied to a LEP at UMD-CP and I got an email yesterday explaining what LEPs are about and how UMD conducts application review. It also said if you don't get into LEP, you'll be admitted into Letters and Sciences.

Did anyone else get it? Is it like a likely letter or a "Sorry LEPs are really hard to get in" letter? Or am I just reading too much into it?

P.S. This probably means decisions are going to be out soon :)

thanks for asking because I was wondering as well. I applied to engineering and got the e-mail. At first it made me nervous – it seemed like maybe it was preparation for a reject from the LEP. But, rationally I think it is probably sent to all or most LEP applicants. I also wondered if it meant they had just finished the initial review and were starting the LEP review – and maybe I’d made it passed the first level. Seems kind of late for that – it means only a few weeks for that review. But, I think I am just too nervous about the decisions and reading too much into this. I am thinking of calling over on Monday and asking about this. This e-mail has really made me nervous, though.

If it’s just a general e-mail explaining the process, then I don’t think it’s that important. This is what I think: I visited UMD and a Admissions rep. came to my high school. Both times they explained the LEP and had me fill out a card. I think this e-mail is just for the people who might not be 100% sure what an LEP is and the process.

They’re just sending out information about LEPs. Any mailings they send out before the decisions are released won’t mean anything. They’re not going to send out a mailing directed only to accepted students until after decisions are available, trust me. Not too long left to wait though, about three weeks, probably.
