Dear Sarah,
In the days since you submitted Part I of your Davidson application, I have reviewed with interest some information you provided regarding your academic successes, as well as your intellectual and extracurricular interests. There is much more we look forward to learning about you as we review your entire application.
The Davidson educational expereince is one of high quality and rigor, primarily due to our excellent faculty who care deeply about students. Our students are recognized as among the finest in the nation; their accomplishments after graduation are evidence of their own personal gifts and the gifts they received as members of the Davidson student body.
I look forward to getting to know you better through your application. If we can be ofany assistance, please do not hesitate to get in touch with us.
Best wishes for an exciting senior year and congratulations on your many accomplishments!
Sincerely yours,
Nancy J. Cable

My younger child applied last year, got a very similar letter at about the same time in the admissions cycle, and was admitted RD, so I don't know if it a likely letter or if everyone gets it. Davidson sent quite a few little updates, as I recall, such as postcards highlighting appealing aspects of the college.

My daughter got the same letter. She did all of her applications at nearly the last minute, i.e. Christmas Holidays. I thought the letter was a gentle reminder, sent out before they had looked at all of the last minute suppliments

I don't think that they're looking for supplements because I have already received confirmation that my application is complete. Also, a few days ago I received my password to check my admissions decision online. Oh well, I just found the letter puzzling.

I actually went up there last week. I stayed Tuesday night and went to the Salman Rushdie lecture, stayed the night, and visited classes the next day.

Have fun though...go sit in on a good class while you are there!

I never received a letter with a username/password either, though. The only thing I received was an e-mail saying they've received Part II of my application.

I got the Part II email and the email saying my application was complete, but I don't think I ever got a letter with a username/password. They send those after your application is complete and not after Part I or anything right?

Sarah,
My son got that same letter a few days ago. Our take on the letter is that it is a "don't forget about Davidson" reminder at a time when there is a lull in admissions activity and kids aren't hearing very much from some of the schools. Perhaps they only sent it to certain applicants, so in that sense it may be similar to a "likely letter." My son would be at the high end of the applicant pool. He received the letter with ID and password in early Dec., shortly after he submitted his common app. He completed his app. materials during Christmas break.

I keep on feeling like Davidson is giving me the shaft. I sent all of my application stuff in by 12/15 and I heard back from them about my application being complete way after everyone else I know who applied. I also haven't gotten my ID/password yet.

Ok, sorry to bring this back, but i got this same letter this year and I am wondering if anyone ever figured out if it's a likely letter or if everyone gets it?

I think they send it out to everyone. I got one last year, and I wasn't a particularly strong candidate. Also, it seems a bit early to be sending out likely letters.

ok, that's what i figured because i only submitted my application a month ago, i doubt it has even been read yet. Well, darn, I wish it was a likely letter.
