Congratulations! I am pleased to inform you that you have been selected to receive a Loyola Marymount University Arrupe Scholarship for the 2011-2012 academic year. The Arrupe Scholarship honors Fr. Pedro Arrupe, who served as Superior General of the Society of Jesus - the Jesuits from 1965-1981, and whose wisdom gave birth to the Jesuit vision of Educating Men and Women for Others. The value of your Arrupe Scholarship is $5,000 annually.

Being designated an Arrupe Scholar carries both great reward and responsibility. We expect Arrupe Scholars to provide leadership to the academic life of the campus and perceptive and informed influence to the broadest spectrum of campus life. Your record of broad and strong achievement indicates that you are well prepared to fulfill these expectations and contribute significantly to life inside and outside the classroom throughout your LMU career.

Financial aid awards will be given after April 1st. What 11starbuck and I received are merit-based scholarships which are different from financial aid awards, unless you are hoping for a scholarship too? I think they will continue sending out scholarship notifications this month and after April 1st too…

flippyadomp and 11starbuck, did you guys apply ea or rd? im hoping for a merit scholarship too cause my stats seemed good enough but didnt get any email.

Snorlax, I applied RD. I remember reading some of your posts before - you had pretty good stats and ECs, from what I remember. Did you end up getting Honours at Entrance? That might be a good indicator.

flippyadomp, unfortunately i didnt get the honors at entrance (and didnt get into honors after applying… feelskindabad). dunno why, i dont think i had any glaring weaknesses in my app. but if i get enough from merit scholarship (if i get any at this rate lol) and financial aid i will definitely be going to lmu. just 2 more days and we’ll know… the wait is killing me…

Oh man. I’m crossing my fingers for some merit aid. I hope since I didn’t get that email I’m not getting any. I got merit aid from USD, but I sure hope Loyola comes through! Good luck to all!

There is hope!! Loyola just updated our myaid page and offered my son a $9,400 achievement award! This is definitely appreciated and helps move LMU up our list!! They also included a work study offer and Stafford loan info.
