I asked for a double with a friend in East Lothian and I ended up getting a triple in Pentland. I don't mind triple in Lothian, or a double in Pentland...but both are completely off from what me and my friend were looking for. Did anyone have similar problems? Also, I'm thinking I'm going to have to pay more than I asked for since they put me in Pentland, so I'm a tad afraid of that ;

Yes, I had the same problem. I asked for a double at Pentland and I got a triple. I dont think location will charge you more. Whether you get a double or a triple that will change a bit on the charges.

The thing is I visited Pentland and I do not like it at all, do you think I would be able to change my dorm? Also if I recall correctly, Pentland costs a bit more than Lothian.

Wow, I didnt know Pentland charged more. I don’t know if we can make changes to our dorm options, if we can, I definitely want a double. If you know we can make changes to our dorms, please post it here. :)

A lothian or AI double costs the same as a Pentland triple

anyways, the accommodations at Pentland are much nicer than the older dorms, if you get in with some friends it’ll be really great (or make new ones)

Aughh, I was afraid it was going to be the same price haha. I went to visit pentland and I did not like it much compared to east lo, thats why I put down east lo with a friend. Fortunately my friend and I are dorming with a third, and the third guy tried to dorm with his friend, but that failed…

I’m going to write a letter and see what happens and probably gonna call tomorrow to see if they can do anything about it ;

a triple in PH is the same price as a double in elo. Though less space. You might get one of the jungle rooms with the loft

Yeahh, mostly why I don’t want a triple, I really don’t want to have a loft ;\ Slept in a dorm during orientation with it…don’t want it at all, especially triple.

Yeah!!! Housing pretty much screwed me over. I requested a double in Pentland with my friend but instead got a triple with two other people… I submitted my contract and payment on time too so I don’t understand why they found it so difficult to just put us together… I don’t want a freakin crowded triple!

When you put in housing, nothing is for sure set in stone. They fit you where they can fit you and if you registered late, you were last to be placed meaning the rest was already filled and you got your last choices.
You can switch around but there is a fee to switch and you’d need to find someone willing to switch with you as well as have the okay from both RAs. I think it’s like a $30 fee for both people switching, but I’m not so sure on that.

I ask for East Lothian double and ended up being placed in a triple in AI. I wish we had an option to put our #1 option and the place we would never want to live in. Ugh, I guess I’ll manage.

Atleast you got a loft, I have the tiny non-loft room ><

well… the housing assignment brochure i got in the mail says, “all room assignments are subject to change. we will notify you if any changes occur. if a specific request was not fulfilled,it is due to demand exceeding supply.” im not sure if the first part means that we can try to request a change or they can change it without our consent… ?
