There were a lot of "Cornell vs. Duke" threads, and I'm just curious...which way did you guys go?

I chose Cornell over Duke because I didn't like the shuttle at Duke, Ithaca's nicer than Durham, and the food's better at Cornell.

I chose Cornell over Duke because I didn't like the shuttle at Duke, Ithaca's nicer than Durham, and the food's better at Cornell.

Yeah, the shuttles are a little annoying. lol

I did the exact opposite as you though

EDIT: There ARE shuttles at Cornell, it is just that your classes are in close proximity to your dorm mostly. However, you gotta pay for your shuttle each time you ride it at Cornell. Also, I heard that they charge you for printing too. Not sure though.

DMC jumps on Duke posts the way a starving wolverine would pounce onto a freshly roasted haunch of meat ;)

w/e..........

I turned down Duke as well including NW, Chicago, Rice, and J Hopkins.

Devil is one of the bigggggggggggggggestt Duke supporters out there! and I think thats probably a gross understatment.

Cornell isn't the only school to charge for printing. IT also depends on where you print.

To collegekid1988:

What's your point? I think that was solidified (with much aplomb I might add) when I dared to say that Cornell was not God almighty.

Touche.

touchy touchy...chill out :p

Oh I'm not. It's all good in the hood. lol

DMC,

Welcome over to the land of red and white (again)... you play nice and we won't go dissing your blue diablos...as I said over in the Northwesten vs. Dartmouth thread, both schools (Duke and Cornell) are awesome...

If we want to claim king of the hill, my offer still stands... the school that goes furthest in the NCAA MENS Lax tourney will be declared "the best"...

I'll come over to the Duke board and sing its praises if Cornell comes up short, but you have to do the same over here if the reverse happens...

Game on?

Wharf

Game, Son!!!!!

Well Allright! The lax tourney starts on 5/14 and runs through 5/30. We'll see you back here then (if not sooner).

GO BIG RED!

I turned down Duke for Cornell (as well as UC Berkeley, Wash U, and Cal Poly)

I would have chosen Cornell over Duke in a heartbeat.

Well I actually did turn down Cornell (and Columbia & Princeton, for that matter) for Duke "in a heartbeat."

What is the point of this thread, again?

You don't see a "Did anyone else turn down Cornell for Duke" thread on the Duke forum...

Sempie to the rescue!

comes flying into the board painted blue

I would not want to go to a school that has a "reject" stigma attached to it. For example, I turned down Tufts and Cornell(wl).
Why? Tufts is known as the ivy-reject school and Cornell (along with penn) are considered the "doormat" ivies.

I used to live in NYC, upstate NY state is not my cup of tea.

right...well, the only difference I see in durham from ithaca is that one...it's much more preppy, less purdy, and oh yeah

ithaca is THE liberal central of the world....and durham is in red country ;-)

i don't see how anyone could say ithaca, the nature and feel of it, is not their cup of tea and yet be willing to live in durham. so weird! it's not like durham is the twin city of NYC!

"ithaca is THE liberal central of the world....and durham is in red country ;-)"

wouldnt San Francisco be liberal central?

Also. Duke itself is relatively liberal. Besides, as a liberal I enjoy stirring things up. Its much easier to do this at a place where there is a more balanced political outlook than at a place where there are only liberal people

Sempitern, there are no doormats in the Ivy League. Brown, Columbia, Cornell, Dartmouth and Penn are all considered slightly below H,P and Y, but there is no "second fiddle". Duke and Cornell are both awesome academically and socially, but when I visited the two, I felt Duke had a more prejudiced/anti-foreigner atmosphere. Not so much the university and administration, but the actual community and surrounding areas. I also felt thatr some areas of Durham were dodgy.
