do they mean that they are trying to fill 10 spots, where they have to accept more than 10 people at a time from the waitlist because some won't accept admission?

the guy said they are taking less than 10 off the waitlist

No he didn't... they aren't allowed to say... I called today...

oh jeeez, i'm so confused haha

hmm... so we don't even know the approximate number of applicants getting off the waitlist?

or do we....bum bum bum

all they could say is that they are mailing out the letters Friday

good luck everyone! im sure you're all accepted to fantastic schools already. I can't believe we have to wait so long...

trust me, maybe he was just pulling my chain, but he told me only a handful, like less than 10

Aww man, this is nervewracking. Best not to get your hopes up...

If they're only taking 10, then there's virtually no hope anyway.

WHere are you all going if Stanford doesn't come through?

Hopefully Oxford if I meet my grade requirements.

I think it will be Brown

columbia....that would be a really hard decision for me though...:(

dartmouth go big green hahahahaha

Could someone kindly post their original waitlist letter? I want to compare it to mine, which I just received today as a transfer applicant who wanted to be considered for freshman admission...

My mom called yesterday and they did, in fact, accept ten or less from the waitlist.

The waitlist letter:

Dear [your nickname],

We have just completed our review of this year's applications for admission to Stanford, and I write to offer you a place on our waiting list. Although we cannot offer you admission at this time, I want to assure you that any student we place on our waiting list is someone who has shown great promise, whom we would like to be able to admit if space becomes available.

blah blah blah

If Stanford doesn't come through, I'm headed to Wesleyan (which I'm more than happy to attend!)
