Not asking for a cocky/bragging thread, I got a 4 and I seriously expected a 5 on this one..

Just wondering who got a 5.. what did they think.. I'm considering of rescoring my AP English Lit just in case because I felt really confident that I had aced it.

You can ask them to rescore your multiple choice by hand rather by machine and then see if your scores change. They rarely do, but I’m willing to pay the cash, lol.

I seriously thought it was the easiest thing ever… and I felt like I wrote some of the best essays of my life… so I was a little disappointed. :(

Mmm, I got a 5. I remember feeling really good about the MC and the essays, especially the open essay one (I remember writing an average of 3 sides per essay).

Then again, they grade the essays holistically, so there’s really no telling what grade they might give.

Yeah, I got credit anyway so I’m fine with it. BUT, I really do feel like that was one of the easier exams this year. So what the heck’s up with that?
I’m glad I’m not the only one a little miffed, maybe they scored tough this year.

I’m with you, OP. I was really hoping for a 5, but got a 4. It was especially disappointing because I got a 4 last year on English Lang, and I was expecting a 5 then also. I do really well on practice tests, and both years my teachers told me that I would for sure get a 5, so it is really frustrating.

If you really want to get the rescore just for some peace of mind, then go for it (and don’t forget to report back and tell us whether it made a difference :)), but I have to warn you, usually if there’s something wrong with the MC, there’s something REALLY wrong with it, enough so that you would get a 2 or a 3 when you were expecting a 5. Personally, I wish they would offer a rescore for the essays, since that is where I think I got gypped (sp?) out of points.

I didn’t take this test, although I took the class. The people who did take it thought it was extremely easy, so the curve was probably pretty hard this year. Still, a 4 is a great score. Congrats.

I got an unexpected 5 on the AP language last year… my teacher sort of sprung it on me in February of the school year and asked me to take it (I was in English 11 Honors and I said yes rather impulsively) Anyway, I feel like I got lucky on that test. So this year, I’m somewhat nervous despite my actually taking the AP lit course.

My friend, who is a good writer (although… messy handwriting is an issue) and usually does well on his MC got a 3—he found out through his college (apparently some UC’s and SUNY’s post AP credits.) Still waiting on my scores…

I got a 5. I wasn’t expecting it since I was really tired during the essay portion and didn’t perform well at all. If you want it to be rescored you totally should. A lot of the grading is subjective.

I got a 5…I thought the multiple choice was a little weird but the essays were extremely manageable.

Lit is hard because so much of it is subjective, and you never know when your reader(s) just might not like something you did that you thought was correct. I know they try to account for that by having multiple people score the same essays but obviously nothing is foolproof.

Isn’t a regrade pretty expensive? I mean, if you get the college credit, then I’d just let it go. Know that you write how you write, regardless of what the AP readers thought, and just see how it goes in college.

I got a 5 as well. However, I felt very confident. Most of the people with me agreed that it was an incredibly easy test, much easier than the earlier releases they had used as practice tests. I wouldn’t be surprised if the curve was very tough. I wrote eleven pages for the three essays. my handwriting is small to medium.
