so my scores were below average for uf, but i was hoping that wouldn't stop them from looking at my application. anyway i guess holistic review means nothing.

i just wonder if anyone got in you know, miraculously? all i've seen so far are the typical students that scored 28-32 on the act that have gotten in, which is fair because i'm aware that's what uf wants.

Accepted to Texas A&M university(2,000), SMU, TCU, BAYLOR (34,00) University of Iowa (60,000) Penn state University. Waiting on ):University of Texas at Austin (probably denial) brother goes here University of Florida (so surprised) and University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign.

I got accepted with 27 ACT, 1710 SAT and my ECs weren’t outstanding neither!! I feel very happy UF accepted me (my essay was pretty good though and my family income is very low)

I’m honored to be one of the mere 13,000 accepted to UF this year.

I got in with a 1780 SAT, 30 ACT, and 4.60 UF recalculated GPA. My ECs were great and my application was strong. I thought my test scores would hold me back, but I’m blessed UF looked at my application holistically. Most of my friends didn’t get in though, even with 1900+ SAT scores.

The middle 50% of last years admitted students had an SAT range of 1780 to 2020. So, last year your SAT score would have been better than 25% (1 in 4) of all enrolled freshmen. Your ACT is even better (and it’s the score UF would have used). The middle 50%, last year, had an ACT range of 26-31.

I’m bewildered and blessed that I got accepted.
ACT: 20
SAT: 1360
GPA: 3.3 unweighted
4.3 weighted
I had many extracurricular activities though…

At UF, GPA is king. If you have the GPA (and EC’s) they will happily discount your ACT/SAT scores. If you have great EC’s and challenged yourself in high school, they will even discount GPA to a point. Not to say your test scores don’t matter, they do, but other factors (GPA and ECs, for example) can help compensate for a low test score. However, it’s much harder to compensate for a low GPA.

In fact last week, I was on an honor’s college tour (the Afternoons with Honors thingy), and the honor advisor expressed disdain for SAT test scores. When evaluating honor applicants they look at GPA, essays and EC’s. When building a “class” they want a little bit of everything, class presidents, artist, poets, athletics, and whatever.

The joys of holistic admissions. It’s great if you get in, but it’s very frustrating if you don’t. :P

I was accepted with a 24 ACT, not the best SAT, and no AP courses, however, I am coming in as a freshman with an Associates of Arts degree and decent extracurriculars. Therefore, there are other things that triumph test scores. If I were you, I wouldn’t stress much about test scores as long as your GPA and extracurriculars are decent.

I got in with a 1680 SAT and 26 ACT, but my unweighted GPA is a 4.0. I also did two sports and a decent amount of ECs. Although test scores are still important, they focus more on other factors, which includes your essay, ECs, and GPA. I asked a UF senior about this. :)
