I see forms about people worrying that they got a D but no one actually mentions what happened afterwards~ so please feel free to talk about it :D

I have the same question.Anyone knows?

My sister was rescinded from UC Davis last year because she got a D in her transferable math course during spring quarter of the year she was going to be admitted. Funny thing is, if she had gotten a D in any other course, she wouldn’t have been rescinded since her GPA would still be within the required GPA range for TAG applicants.

@soprano kittu Sorry to hear that~ but was the course her prerequiste?

@ pink: No, it was just a UC-transferable math course. The transfer requirements says that I have to have completed at least 1 UC transferable math course in order to transfer to Davis, and since I failed the only UC-transferable math course I had (the previous math courses I took were non-transferable), I got rescinded. Luckily I retook it the next semester in summer and got a B in it.

as long as you don’t get a D on any major prerequisites or IGETC, you’ll be fine…?
i know a guy who was rescinded from UCR last year because of a D in English 1A…

Chaotic:There are " minimum UC eligibility courses" you have to finish, which include any UC transferable math course and the required English courses.

Hm… i don’t wnat to fail so im going to drop my chem class today with a W… i dont need it… since im an english major… and have enough units and all igetc done… but ill take it for summer… i want to change majors thats why. So that won’t affect me right?

If the D was not in a required course, or the D will not pull your GPA down below the minimum, you should be fine.

If it was a pre-req or required GE course, they will rescind you. Happened to a friend of mine. She moved up to UCSC and didn’t find out she was rescinded until the first day of classes. She wasn’t exactly the brightest bulb on the tree though.

^^^What if you fail a pre-req class, but retake it for a passing grade? Would UC’s still look down on that, or forgive you since you retook it?

If you retook the class, they will see that and consider it passed.

If you fail it after you have been admitted, they will rescind your admission. Some schools will let you retake it in the fall at a CC, but UCLA and Berkeley won’t as far as I know. You will have to retake it and then reapply in the fall all over again.

BerkeleyOrBust@ The situation is a bit different in here. Failed a class in winter and retake it in spring but they couldn’t “see” it, how will they deal with that? I know that in semester school, if you failed a class at the last semester, you are probably dead…but how about a quarter school?

That is outside my experience. My CC was semester and so is Berkeley.

I would just call them. Good luck!

a little bit offtopic:
can you get a C for the major that you were admitted to? for example, I was admitted to ucla as a chem major, but i’m having a tough teacher for general chem II this semester…if i get a C for this class, will I get rescinded?..

I failed my math class in Spring and notified them. I am waiting on a response, will let you know. I got in UCSC and UCD

Did you get a response back from them?

I might fail a non major math class as well. I will be fulfilling all other requirements for transfer.

Thanks

I would call them and ask. This might break the condition where you have to keep a certain GPA so it could lead to you being rescinded.

I got a D in a pre req but I am going to retake it in the summer. My TAG was also for UCD. Will I be rescinded or should I be fine because I’m redoing it?

I know this is off topic. But is it bad to drop or withdraw from a class you had planned out for the spring semester? The class is non-transferable and I am taking the class just for the heck of it because I’ve already satisfied all pre-req’s and igetc requirements.
