same here. i got one last year and i got accepted.

I kind of want one, but I heard they are only for in-state applicants. You would think they'd appreciate all that OOS tuition money, but I guess not.

At University of Illinois, the admissions policies got changed in favor of OOS applicants, so a lot of my friends are getting rejected with really high grades/test scores. It's interesting how different two state colleges are - although they are in different states...

M1stmarbl3r: do you mind sharing your old stats? I am curious what type of stats inspire the supplemental applicatin request. I totally understand if you don't want to compromise your privavcy by doing that so no big deal if you don't.

My GPA and test scores were high and I got one of those e-mails last year. They go out for various reasons, don't stress out if you don't get on or even if you do. It seemed there were various questionnaires last year also.
So, if you got one use the opportunity to get great recommendations, send in those 4.0 1st semester grades you got and complete the questionaire with the best of your ability. It may very well get you into Cal.
If you didn't get one of the supplementals, don't worry about it. It only means that Admissions doesn't need additional info from you right now.

PS My questionnaire had to do with a learning disability I have and competitions I won in HS.

ummmmmmmmmmm I had I think close to 4.0 and a 2070 SAT score (After I sent the extra email in I had over a 4.0). I had some extracurriculars like Taekwondo and president of key club, but that's about it. haha hope that helped.

Yes, thanks for posting!

So if I haven't received this e-mail by now, does this mean that they won't send it to me?? I only received a "Thank You for Applying to Cal" e-mail.

"Each year we ask a small group of students for additional information about
personal circumstances, academic experience and extracurricular activities."

"To be considered in our review, all supplemental information must be completed
by January 22, 2007."

Unless there is more than one questionnaire, it looks like you would have gotten the email if they wanted you to complete it. Then again it took me until yesterday to get the "Thanks for applying to Cal - Here's how you check to see your App is in review" email.

I only got a basic "Thank you for applying" email which had a link to the myBerkeleyApp page... where my app's review is pending or whatever.

End of Feb. is when Berkeley sends out invitations, right?

End of March, late in the afternoon. They get posted on line. If you get accepted you will get your package within a day or so after that.

wow lame i didnt get that email...how can they process all the apps so fast? wouldnt they have to go through them all in order to see who they would want to get that extra information from?

Flong, those e-mails are already out. They only send a small number out (like 600.) If you didn't get one it is not a bad thing so don't worry about it. :)

LOL it means im either a clear reject or accept. i think im toast -sigh-

but yea I have to agree with flong, because how the hell did they get through all the applications so quickly and figure out who they need extra info from?

They couldn't have reviewed ALL the thousands of applications. I really think that the emails are to a random group of people and that they don't mean anything significant in indicating your app status.

Thanks to computer technology, it is possible. Think about it.

You all applied online and then the computer takes your neatly compiled data and it goes 1 of 3 ways:

Green Light: It goes to the committee for comprehensive review. This is not to say you're a clear admit, but GPA/test scores were reported favorably.

Yellow Light: This is the grey area. Not a clear admit/reject by any numerical standards. Lets get some more info - send that email (conveniently reported in your app).

Red Light: Even if you were Jesus Christ himself, you wouldn't be admitted because your scores are just way too low. Still go to "comprehensive review" to make sure the computer didn't mess up and so that Berkeley looks like it takes everything into consideration.

Just a hypothesis.

lol theres 3 piles, clear admit, clear reject, and then the middle group. Although Cal says they took on a more holistic approach, it is only for the middle group unfortuantely ; /. Me w/ a 3.8 uc gpa, and a 2140 prolly made it in the middle group : (

Wait, so if you get a alumni scholarship e-mail, does that also mean you're in already?

No everyone who needs aid gets that e-mail, even out of state students. Even if u get this email it doenst mean your in either it just means Cal is really not swayed either way so they want extra info to see if you should be acceptd or not.

Ummm...what if you don't need aid? shrug Just wondering.
