The Salli Mae system wouldn't accept my two CCs, so I chose to send a check instead.

CommonApp wouldn’t accept my credit card, so I also used an e-check. Did you end up submitting on time?

I actually have no idea what an e-check is, but the school allowed regular checks. So basically they mark it as complete and I just have to send a check in the mail.

YEs!

i submitted my supplement and my common app, but havent gotten the payment to work. should i just try an echeck or is it too late?

Yeah you should just use a different payment. Colleges are probably least strict with the payment deadline since they need the money to review your application.

You should try! We’re on the same boat ><

I was freaking out because I had 5 minutes left and it kept declining my credit card… clock turned 12 AM before I realized I should have tried using an echeck… which i did. then i checked the website hoping stanford would have some sort of grace period but realized that it was the complete opposite. and now my application is getting thrown out… ■■■

Do you have a link from the Stanford website?

Hey all! I made an account to thank CollegeBoundz. I was freaking out about the late payment for my brother’s application as the cc’s wouldn’t go through, but the e-check worked immediately. MssAlyCat I definitely would go for it; it’s best to get it through as soon as you can. As AndrewNoNumbers mentioned, Stanford will probably be ok with this. It seems like a lot of people had the same problem and it was a server issue. Fingers crossed!

insanesoul - What does it look like on the your Common App account? I’ve never seen it where a college will stop your application right there.

cardinal01 - Welcome to CC! And I guess I should look into an e-check since it’s probably easier than sending a real check.

Freshman application deadline
The deadline for submitting the Common Application First-Year Application, Stanford Supplement, and application fee/waiver is Sunday, January 1, by 11:59 PM PACIFIC TIME.

The Common Application uses an Eastern Time date stamp, so remember to subtract three hours to account for the time zone difference to determine if you submitted by our deadline. For example, if you submit your application at 10 PM Pacific Time, your Common Application account will show a January 2, 1 AM date stamp. However, because we use a Pacific Time deadline, your application was submitted in time. If “Complete” or “Downloaded” appears next to your Application and Stanford Supplement on the Common Application website, your submission was successful.

We will not accept late applications, even for technical problems with the Common Application. So do not wait until the last minute to submit your application! For more information see the announcement about the Regular Decision Application Deadline.

the time stamp on my supp/common should be before deadline, but the time stamp on the entire thing is definitely like an hour after (i just checked mail in payment and then submitted). which do they take into account?

I read on the Common App Forum that if you were able to submit all materials than you’re safe and colleges can review your application. Apparently if you were late (or too late I guess) the Common App and Supplement would not let you submit. Straight from Common App Support Team.

Stanford has its own policies regarding deadlines. According to them, if you submit the application late they will not consider you for admission.
There have been past years where Stanford has thrown out over 1000 applications because they were sent after the deadline. Look through the forums and you can find plenty of threads regarding this.

Ah, I forgot I posted this on the Stanford forum. Yes, they are really strict.

insanesoul - I’m sure you’ll have other choices. Good luck.

Do you think I am able to email Stanford admissions about this…though Stanford is really strict?

Thanks AndrewNoNumbers hello- check your messages. I think in cases like this it’s always best to just e-mail and see what they can do for you. It certainly doesn’t hurt! :)

I emailed the admission guys. They acknowledge that there was a payment issue and said that so long as you got your app and supplement in on time, late payments are fine.

Wow that’s great. I got my payment completed on time, but this will be helpful for so many other people.

Hey guys … I can’t submit payment for my duke app!! But it says complete beside the payment part… would they accept payment later, coz I don’t have any other means right now !! or should I just cancel the app, will they throw the submitted commonapp and supplement out if I pay later?
