Hmm....I'm trying to insist that there must be some conspiracy as to why I got a 4...

But I must admit I was shocked to find that I hadn't gotten a 5. My teacher is an impossibly harsh grader, typically giving 7's to essays that CB would certainly give a 9. And I almost always got 9's from her. Furthermore...I was really, REALLY confident about those essays that I wrote on AP day O.O.

ANYWAY, what's important though, is that I never took an AP history class, while nearly everyone else I know, did. Now, I found out that one of my friends - an avid history buff who, um, isn't exactly Charles Dickens...got a 5. True, though, she can think of a million historical examples per second, and I know the SAT essay-graders (who I had FAR less respect for than AP-graders..) think that historical examples are absolutely necessary.

Did anyone else fail to use historical examples, and then find a disappointing APEL grade in the mail? Or, on the converse, did anyone get a 5 without having ever taken an AP History?

I think you didn't answer the question. A lot of points are knocked off for straying off the question and/or not answering it.

I took Euro and I provided very few examples for the French Revolution FRQ, but I made sure I answered the question. Don't know what I scored on that essay but I got a 5 on the exam.
