I'm hoping to transfer to UCB and decisions come out on the 30th. Just yesterday I received an independent student verification form that they want me to fill out and send back so they can work on my financial aid package. Has this happened to any of you guys or anyone that you know? Any of you guys receive verification paperwork before you were actually accepted? Is this a sign of acceptance? I don't know why they would bother with the paperwork unless they knew the student was going to get accepted.

my friend got some paper work like that before she knew she got in as a freshman for the fall

i think its a good sign

There is a post regarding this on the UC Transfers page on CC. Several people have received these letters in the past few days and almost everyone is viewing it as a good sign.

Yea I know it's on the UC transfers page. I was just wondering if any freshman got something similar before they were accepted.

Yeah, I'm a freshman and I got the verification forms and was accepted. I know I already pm'd you but in case this info affects anyone else I just thought I'd put it out there.

I got this dated a week prior to the decisions coming out last month; it said that I needed to return it with my family's tax forms two weeks from the letter's date. A week later, I was accepted into Cal 2012. The same happened to my friend who also got accepted into Cal.

I too received this in the mail. I went to the transfer person at my community college and she said that everyone who listed UCB as a potential school on the fasfa application received this notice. I am waiting as patinently as possible for my acceptance letter.

Good luck to everyone and hope to see you all there!

karmama: The transfer person at your community college is mistaken. Not everyone that listed UCB on fafsa has received a verificaton letter. The financial aid office at Berkeley even said that they do not send out these verification letters unless you have been accepted.

It just makes sense. Why would they bother verifying your finances if they don't have to give you a financial aid package in the first place?

^^^

Exactly, that's a lot of extra paperwork for nothing.

I thought that too. It really doesn't make sense to send them out. Especially when you they don't even request your transcript until you have been accepted. I am just too excited and I really don't want to be disapointed. UCB is my first choice! GO BEARS!!!!

I received my acceptance letter via the website! :) You guys were right!
