If anyone received merit scholarships either ED or ID, what were your stats, where are you from and what did you receive? Thanx!

I'm going to PM you the info...

jenskate1: i am curious too, are you in rice baylor as well?

Yes, i'm rice/baylor.

would you have gone to rice is it wasn't for rice baylor? i am still curious about the kind of peple they give $ to.

Anybody else get a merit scholarship?

Simba, yes, since I applied ED. They do give merit money to ED students, which I find surprising, but wonderful.

Would have PM'ed you the info on my merit aid, but you have PMing disabled, sorry...

I nthink something that Rice really ought to do is better advertise its merit aid. They make it sound like very very few students are getting any, but in actuality it is a larger number than I ever expected. Not that I know the exact numbers, but its more than i thought.

Jenskate1: Yes I do agree that Rice should advertise merit $ better. It is my understanding that about 15% get it (on top of 100% who get cheaper tution).

I unabled my PM thing. Yes I was surprised. My theory was that they don't give any inducements to ED applicants.

My D got some merit aid (she is a soph at Rice). She is a music major, and the merit aid was from the Shepherd School.

My kiddo was accepted ED and we have not heard much at all from Rice. I am concerned about paying for it all, but will do anything.

were we supposed to apply for merit aid with the application? or do accepted people only get info?

Rice's merit aid is pretty much given totally without any seperate application process. You will hear about what merit aid (if any) you were offered when you recieve the acceptance packet.

wow jenskate1! thanks for the quick reply!! you are a VERY resourceful person for all of us on the rice forum..thanks so much i appreciate it!

Jenskate,
Please PM me info about merit scholarships at Rice. My son may apply there next year.

MomofWildChild, Just curious, did your D receive the merit aid her first year or after that based on her first year grades? My S did extremely well his 1st semester (and hopefully will do as well this semester), thus, we were hoping for more merit aid. Didn't know if they change aid based on grades while at Rice. Thanks for your help!

D's merit aid was awarded before freshman year. It was a music merit award and she gets it every year as long as she does well. They haven't suggested an increase!

i know this isn't exactly about merit $, but jenskate, since you're rice/baylor, do you think you could PM your stats to me? thanks in advance

sat - search the archives, i've posted them multiple times before

If you don't mind, jenskate, I found the archives where you posted your stats before. Here you go, sat908:
