I've seen posts in which kids said that they had great recommendations. I'm just wondering how many people saw their or their children's recommendations. The online form asked us to waive the right to see them - I don't know that there was an option not to waive that right - and when paper forms were submitted, that was done by the teachers. It never would have occurred to me to ask to see them. Was I wrong? How is it that so many applicants know (or think they know) that they had glowing recommendations?

I think kids are assuming based on their relationship with their teachers. That’s what I did

We didn’t see the recommendations but her science teacher stopped me to tell me that the recommendation from her was a glowing one. Not sure what her Math and English teacher said…but according to the HS advisor at our school, she got all glowing recommendations

Did not know the reviews were suppose to be so secretive… At D1’s Middle School, they provided multiple copies of each recommendation (we used a generic form original school blacked out) with accompanying envelopes incase she decided to apply to more institutions. All the schools including some HADES were fine with it…

All 3 of my teachers sent me copies of the recommendations.

My math and English teachers told us (me and my friends who are applying as well) what they wrote. One of my friends had a paper recommendation and the teacher handed it back to her, so she could see. The person who did my personal rec gave me a copy to keep. However, I think most people pretty much assume what was written about them.

My personal rec for Andover emailed me the optional statement she sent.
