Did Anyone Take The Sat 4 Times???

Did Anyone Who Applied Ea To Harv Take The Sat 4 Times???

Hell no! I only had two fee waivers.

Um. No. I'm not crazy.

i took it three times...

I took twice, but I gets thats the norm!:D

i took it three times.
but then, i have an obsessive compulsive disorder. :D kidding :D
applying rd
will taking the test three times look bad ?

I took it 3 times, my verbal score went down and my math went up minimally. It helped my overall composite grade, but part of me regrets taking it.

I don't think it can hurt tho.

I took it three times.

Verbal went up a little, math up to 800. Writing at 790.

Yeah, as long as you improved overall throughout the course of the tests I think that you'll be fine.

I've known applicants who did. I don't think it makes a difference -- they are really serious when they say they take the best math and the best verbal.

Sophmore year: 660 V, 590 M

1st try New SAT: 760 V, 690 M, 680 W

2nd try: 800 V, 700 M, 740 W

3rd and final: 740 V, 800 M, 740 W

If you show improvement, I don't think it matters. I technically took it four times (I only took it sophmore to see "were I stood", a horrible idea in retrospect, but I didn't even know what the PSATs were) and that fourth try was the difference between a 2240 composite and a 2340 composite. If you think you can do better, go for it.

i did go for it and i went down

And that's why they only consider your highest scores.

so u think they wont think that im trying too hard???...they wont care?

It does look poorly on you if you take it too many times. Keep that in mind. If your score keeps declining, maybe you should be satisfied with your current highest composite score.

well it went up the first 3 times and i guess i wasnt completely satisfied and i took it again (which was a bad idea) and it went down...I am taking math 2c this saturday and if i get a good score I will have to face the decision of sending my good score along with my sat...if i do badly i wont send either because they already have my scores...
I think its worth it to send a good score on the math 2c even though tehy will see my fourth try right???

i took it once

Anything that anybody says about taking the test four times is 100% speculation. If Harvard didn't want you to do it, I think they would come out and say that. And an admissions counselor only has so much time to read 22,000+ applications; I'd say he'd be focusing much more on your composite, essays, recs, GPA, ECs, etc. than DID THIS KID TAKE SAT FOUR TIMES!?!/11 MUST REJECT BECUZ HE WANTED TO DO BETTER!?!? No. That wouldn't happen.

Also remember, a majority of the test takers don't follow the insane prep regimen that most members of this board do...a "retake" on CC implies another 20+ hours of prep...a retake to the average high school student is just another four hours out of his life. I'm sure the adcom will assume it was just another four hours down the tube; they won't really think you're "obsessed" with taking the test.

yeah....I never have time to prep for ANY standardize test...I am just soo involves....it reflects as welll...:(...this sucks...by taking so many AP classes I, in effect, hurt my SATI score because I have little time to prep/practice or even chill before the test....this....just...sucks...hopefully my schedule will counterbalace my SO SUCKY SAT SCORES...:) (Lots of S's :))

thanks.....

it's a myth that it makes a difference (at least for harvard)
