Did anyone's interview go really really well?

Lets hear some interview stories - I had mine today and the interviewer and I seemed to have more of a philosophical discussion than a Q and A session. I assume this is a good thing. Are there any complete horror stories?

i had a very interesting discussion with my interviewer about string theory, the meaning of time and black hole, altough it gets kinda confusing at times, i really enjoyed it.

My interviewer forgot about me. I spent an hour in an ice cream shop waiting desolately and finally ended up spending a minor fortune on sickening amounts of ice cream in order to comfort myself.

However, it got better once she arrived. She was lovely and we got along quite well- shared the same passions for the same books and everything.

Opened my mailbox a few days later and found a parcel she had mailed me containing some of the books we'd talked about.

I'm hoping that's a sign of a good interview....not a bad one.

Glad to hear yours went very well!

Whoa, I'd never be able to carry on an entire conversation about string theory. O_O;;;

Pyramid, that's great news! :)

I thought mine went well - in that it wasn't horrible. But I'm pretty sure nothing "special" happened.

Yeh, I finally got my interview!!! Tomorrow night! I can't wait... I thought they would never say hello, but finally... I must be the last EDer to get one... :) :) :)

Congrats jacquesier! :)

is it a good sign if your interviewer says "I think this is going very well for you and I hope there are more students like you at Princeton"?

My interviewer really wanted to focus on himself/his life/accomplishments/etc, so I sort of just let him talk, and that seemed to get him excited about the interview. He asked a few questions about myself/my interests, but he studied different things at Princeton, so didn't talk too much about it. He said I asked good questions/made good comments/etc. though, and seemed very encouraging.

alwaysfaithful, are you engineering major? School of engineering?

My interviewer said it was obvious that I had a passion for learning. We really connected since I'm Chinese and I love the culture and my interviewer majored in Eastern studies, so we talked a lot about Chinese culture and our trips to China, etc. I felt it went pretty well.

well interview isn't that important, and most of them go pretty well...

I hope all of you Princeton hopefuls can see what your interviewers were aiming for: if & how well you could be intellectually engaged. If you feel that you at least held up your end, then you can be sure that your interview "went well." Of course that's no guarantee of admission, but it eliminates a question or potential negative about you, which in itself is just one less worry. Remember that the interviews are verifications of the application materials. They want to see if great stats can be verified by an intellectual orientation in discussion. Congrats to all of you. Doesn't look as if any of you bombed.

And I would much rather see interviews of this style than mere factual reviews of your appl. materials. (BOR-ing)

Good luck to everyone!

It (My interview) is less than 3hrs away... Ek... I'm actually excited...

Good luck jacquesier!!

Although interviews don't count much (if any) in the decision making process; mine went extremely well. My interviewer said I was a "stand-out" compared to others he's interviewed and that if it were up to him, he would admit me. He also said my ECs were different from the usual applicant and he admitted that at first he thought they were a bunch of b.s. (he had me email him several days ahead with a list of my ECs). He was very nice and seemed very genuine. At the end of the interview, he said well one of the questions I have to ask you is why Ptn but I don't need to ask you because during our conversation thus far, you've already answered the question. When we parted, he gave me his card and said to keep in touch and to let him know what happens. I thanked him and then gave him my card, which he seemed to think was pretty mature.

Mine went really really well. Unfortunately, interviews mean nothing in the admissions process.

Mine went well except my interviewer forgot to come and left me to wait for one hour at Starbucks.

We went on some weird tangents moving from Molecular Biology and the origins of DNA and proteins to bowling and then to playing chess and ways to improve in chess and finally to the interviewer's life at princeton... The Interviewer and I did share a lot of interests.

I thoughout it went well but I can never be certain...

haha I honestly think i AM DEFINITELY the last EDer to apply...my guy emailed me TODAY about an interview tomorrow....and i thought i wouldn't get one!!!

note: "interview" instead of apply...DEF applied in sept!!!

Good to see you got one. I applied in Sept. myself and only got mine on 30th Nov. It went very nice. The guy was very friendly and cooperative. Though I thought my Duke interview went better, I got to hear some good North Carolina drinking stories and it was a bit odd at first, but I think it was really nice. Both interviews were really long... Pton's was about 1hr5min and Duke was 1hr30min...
