taking 2 classes during summer session (anatomy and biochem)

had an anatomy exam on thursday, did really bad on it (was in the morning and somehow due to bad luck I get a migraine), I am taking a freaking F (a pretty bad F).

talked to professor and he said he is surprised I did so bad and I talked to him about dropping the class. professor said if I can do well in the next 2 exams (we don't have a final), then I can "redeem" myself and get a decent grade in the class.

numbers say an A and maybe even a B is out of the range but the professor told me not to worry about the 1st exam and just look forward to the next 2. I am so confused, tough decision either way.

I feel confident that I can do well in the future exams but I don't see why the professor is telling me I can get a decent grade. can anyone gimme some insight?

Since it is summer session, if you drop it what will be on your transcript? Is it too late to drop it and have it not show up on your transcript which would be ideal.

Would you receive a W(withdrawal)? Since you are failing the course currently you may get a WF(Withdrawal while failing). A WF has a much more negative effect than a normal W. From what I have heard from professors, one W is fine especially if it is a non major class but do not make it a habit. I have also hurt that a WF can hurt you since it is known that you were failing the course.

What percent of your final grade was this exam worth? I find it hard that you could still get an A in the course after failing the first exam.

I think like 25 percent and not sure how the drops work but I think I get a W if I drop.

Omg, I’m taking anatomy in the fall…I wanted to drop it and this solidified my thoughts :/.

Well you do still have 75% of your grade up for grabs. How is that 75% distributed? If the rest is in exams and you feel you can ace the rest maybe you should stick it out.

Check the W policy for the summer session at your college.

Is this class required for your major? If so it will look negatively upon you if you withdraw and you will have to take it over again for graduation requirements. I know some schools have a policy where if you fail a course and retake it, the higher grade is replaced on your transcript but other schools average out the two. Check up on this policy as well.
