I got a 33 composite on ACT and a 1900 on SAT. Obviously I'd prefer it if college admissions people saw just the ACT score and not the SAT score. Is this possible? If not, will they disregard the SAT score because they see that the ACT is higher? Thanks...

sorry, it's still not clear to me: can i just not write down my SAT results on my app? Or do I have to write it, but they'll ignore it?

Yeah, I'm curious about this as well, do I leave the SAT blank on the common application since my ACT is higher, even though I sent in both official score reports?

bumpbumpbumpbumpbump

you don't have to tell them any of your scores
that is unless you already sent them to your school(s) of choice.
You can basically pretend you never took it if that's your prerogative...

can you report both SAT and ACT? jw because my ACT is higher but the two important sections of the SAT (M and CR) are high, the writing just brings it down. hopefully this makes sense.

you can report one or the other or both, but not specific sections only from each, (for example, a high scoring math section, but not writing)

When you send your SAT II scores, Collegeboard will also send your SAT I scores in the same report.
I'm also really confused about not putting down scores on applications though.

you dont have to put it on your application, and they wont ever see it or know about it unless you have your scores sent to them from the testing agency...

Well, it's not likely the case to see just the highest score since the colleges/universities might like to know students' both min and max scores.

honestly, it's really quite simple. when you see the application, you can move your writing utensil to form the numbers of your scores, thereby indicating how well you did on your tests. this should be followed up with an official score report from college board, but you don't HAVE to write them down or send a report.

if i sent my low sat and high act to the same college, would the act "override" the lower sat?

that is the question here.

can somebody please answer this? i'm worried too.

why send the sat if it's low?

I really don't see what your big deal is...if one score is better, just send it and only write that one down on the application.

The reason they are confused is this. SAT2's are required for most top tier schools regardless of taking the ACT. When you send SAT2, they get SAT1. The Common App says to write down all your scores, so I think it would be ethically wrong to purposely hide your SAT score, because that score goes to the admissions office anyways. I think if you take both, they'll just take whichever is higher(compare to chart), but why don't one of you call your ED/EA schools and find out and report back to us!

is everybody here really this confused? honestly, obviously if you SENT the college your scores, you should write them down. However, it is not REQUIRED to report any scores whatsoever. heck, you could apply to college without taking any standardized tests if you wanted to.

"heck, you could apply to college without taking any standardized tests if you wanted to."

Think that could be a hook for the Ivies? ;)

All the schools I'm applying to take the ACT w/ Writing in lieu of the SAT AND the SAT II's, but I'll put the SAT score down anyway.
