Did CC just take down the crazy thread?

ya im sure it just meant they hadn't put it up yet. i can tell you this: it doesnt necessarily mean rejection or even deferral, cause mine said flat out rejected. Quoting HoldenMCaulfield (sorri..donno how to use quote)

It is real..for sure......

Please refer to my comments in the "Link Threads Removed" topic.

2100 or bust, i guess me and you have to wait till tomorrow or something...they are probably gradually putting in the data into their computers

Yea Brooklyn, I hope so. BTW, what part of Brooklyn, i grew up in canarsie

mine says its not up yet either...im scared though to click it again, in case it's illegal or something...

Bklyn...wait till tomorrow? Could I have this site? I thought we couldn't find out untill Thursday. Enlighten me please!!

chocolateluvr88, id highly advise you not to check that link right now. people are trying to find out if there are severe consequences for those who clicked on the link to find out their decisions earlier than the set date. the official results are still going to be released on the 15th.

Oh ok. If people find out tomorrow from Cornell that it was ok to click the link, could someone send it to me tomorrow? I'm anxious to find out if I got in.

I believe the link is real. If you can still check it, I would highly discourage doing so. It is a good way to get your decision rescinded. I have analyzed two screen shots, one from a poster here and one from a friend. One was accepted and one deferred. The evidence in favor of it being real is:

resemblence to last years layout
2.the "https://"
3.the "admissions.cornell.edu" site
4.the proper use of both applicant's name's
5.the fact that some decisions are not yet posted, which makes sense as there are still a few days left.

if i were you i would not click the link
if you did click the link call and explain tomorrow. They will know it was you, as you had to log in. You are much better off being up front about your mistake, and perhaps your thinking that it was a joke line that would say "you're rejected you loser" or something.

This is my advice, and I strongly believe it is the real deal.

right but hundreds already clicked it......i cannot release the link due to my own wellbeing and legal reasons. I wont be responsible for something i did not start nor perpetuate. (i am south of prospect park in brooklyn)....umm ...ye, we cant release the link again because we'd be removed from CC. CC doesnt have legal rights to distribute the link, and as members, we have certain responsibilities. Again, we did not commit any sort of crime. Clicking an anonymous link with an anonymous claim in a PUBLIC forum, is not illegal. It is not out fault. Do not worry at all.

i missed all of this...

what was it exactly? Sounds like a link to Ed decisions. What it a Cornell link? Did you have to type in your information and all? What did the pages say? Somebody update me!!!

what can I say, dazedandconfused...sue me.

You honestly think, sparticus, that if we click the link to check up on those who didnt get anything yet, that they will see and rescind us? I dont see the legality in that.

I don't see the illegality in it...but I honestly don't think anything will happen...

It's certainly similar to the MBA scandal but it is not as bad since it required less "hacking." One thing you all have going for you is that you are younger than the MBA applicants and therefore would be more likely to receive leniency. I'm just glad I wan't home when this happened. I remember when the MBA scandal happened wondering what I would have done if a link was placed on CC to allow me to acess a college decision. Ironically, even those who found out that they were accepted have to freak out just like the rest who haven't found out yet. Unfortunately for you, you have to freak out longer than me because I find out my decision on Thursday and you have to wait until Cornell announces whether they will take any action.

they will likely be able to find out who logged in.

If you clicked it i wouldn't worry TOO much due to the very public nature of the display and the innocence involved in following the link.

However, I would play it safe and call and explain. if enough students call and explain they will not likely punish everyone, nor just the students who didn't call. yeah.

you probably won't get recinded, but if you weren't rejected, i would call and make nice with admissions.

yeah.. i mean we didn't hack into anything (password cracking, etc) and the website was posted in a public forum. for those who clicked it in an earlier stage (including me) didn't know what the website had. but those who checked knowing that it potentially had your decision...i don't know what to say about it.

just dont worry..if you're really paranoid, call them up in the morning and explain what happened...

i think i might, maybe after seeing how everyone else's phone calls go

Did anybody try logging in the regular way from the admissions site yet?

yeah because of that one crazy post, everyone is paranoid even more..
