Did CMU start sending notifications already?

Just wondering, although it's a bit early (from the 3/15 starting date.)

also, does CMU notify you by snail mail or online?

Wow this post made me realize its already March! This year’s going by fast

I just looked at the 2013 thread and it looks like the decisions came by mail and that the kids started posting thier decsisions on March 29th Who knows if that is how it will happen this year! We will all have to wait and see. Good luck!

I really hope that they send decisions close to the 3/15 end of the range they offered.

I was in the admissions office the other day and saw quite a few stacks of the big admissions books they send out to accepted students. last year i believe I received my decision (online) around the 21st/22nd. It’s exciting but pretty underwhelming until you get the mail since it will just be something like “Decision: Accept”

My status on the CMU “where am i in the process” site says “admission committee completed” on feb. 23!!

does CMU post up the decisions online?!

since cmu lets you check your application status online, i’m assuming that you can check online.

by the way, someone from cmu called my house today. i wasn’t home but my parents said it was a “courtesy call”… what does that even mean…?

I haven’t heard the exact phrase “courtesy call” but there was a thread on the CMU forum about the admissions calling students to answer any questions about the school.

Some people have been taking this as a “good sign” saying that they’re offering more services to the admitted students (although we don’t know yet) but some people have been saying it’s probably wise not to read too much into it. Go figure, believe whomever who want to :)

Best of luck to all of us :)

When I called the admissions office to ask about my tax forms, a lady told me that the office is about a month behind on all documents… so I wouldn’t expect decisions until closer to April, at the very earliest!

I really hope they aren’t that far behind. If they release decisions near 4/15 which is the later end of their range, I will have probably already made a decision by then. I hope they don’t send them two weeks before we have to respond.

At the top of my status page it says decision completed. At the bottom it says admission and finanical aid decisions would NOT be posted online but mailed. I also got a courtesy call back in January even before the file was sent to the committee so I think the call is just to see if you have any questions.

My friend told me she already got accepted. (She applied regular decision) She’s going for business.

^^ Is she being recruited for a sport? I already got accepted, albeit not officially, but it’s because the coach found out first and let me know.

mdbjr - it says “decision” completed?! I guess then my status (admission committee completed) doesn’t mean they decided on my acceptance or rejection?

Sorry it does say admission committee completed. I just assumed that means they have made the decision, but maybe not. I just wanted to make the point that decisions will be mailed and not posted online from what I read.

oh darn, i didnt catch that. I thought they would be posted online. Thanks for pointing it out :)

Looking through last years decisions thread, it seems that decisions were posted in waves online in addition to sending letters out. I noticed that a bunch of people posted about their decisions after midnight one night (presumably after reading the decision online). Not sure if this is how they’ll do it this year or not. But it seemed like a lot of people found out online before receiving a letter.

The normal process for CMU is to send a letter. About 3 days later it is posted online.

According to threads last year, the first wave of decisions were mailed on March 22, and on the 24th at midnight (aka really early on the 24th). Here’s to hoping some of us will find out in less than two weeks. Apparently, people got the date that they were mailing the letters by calling the admissions office, so I guess when the date gets closer, they may start releasing info on when to expect decisions.

anon345 …you stated you would sit tight and stop worrying…
You still sound worried…

Relax… if you’re a female with good stats – CMU will very likely accept you…the acceptance rate for SCS females is very high if you have equally impressive stats

You can PM me to chance you if you are a gambler…but you cannot shoot me if I’m wrong…
