I took the SATs in October for the third time and just got my scores back. Honestly my scores don't make sense at all. I broke 2000 the second time I took them and was expecting 2100+. I did hours of studying and got 2200+ on ALL of my practice tests (at least 20). However, this time I didn't even break 2000. It honestly doesn't make sense to me. I dropped well over 100 points. I know it could have been a "bad day" but I was pretty confident with my answers and wasn't that nervous. Also I'm a really good write and got a 12 on the last essay. This time I got an 8 and I'm POSITIVE it was a great essay. Is it POSSIBLE they could have messed up my scores? Has anyone ever had their SATs rescored and got better results?

I feel like the same thing has happened to me…

It literally doesn’t make sense. And I know I could have “messed up” but I’m really positive I didn’t…

I ordered the Q & A booklet which should be here I think in 4-6 weeks.
I’m really disappointed with this score…I got a 1910 on this, and what I am most surprised is that I usually have a W score of 700+, this time I got a 630.

Looks like I’m taking it again in Dec :(

I felt the same way as well! I finished pretty early for each section and looked over my answers like twice to see if I messed up somewhere. I was very confident I got almost a perfect in math! I was expecting like a 2000 or so but got 1700 I don’t understand at all! On all of my practice exams I got around 1900-2000 and the first time was around 1800. I am thinking of getting in re-scored but looks like I am going to have to retake it in December. ugh

At first I thought I was the only one, but then my sister scored about 200 points below what she usually get in the practice test and I got about 150 below my average for writing! I really expected to do really good in this SAT but then i got a 570 for writing and 640 for reading even though I always get around a 700 in almost all my practice tests! Should we contact collegeboard and complain about it or wait till the 30th for our analysis?

Check the threads in the SAT sections. Lots of discussion going on about this.

yeah is there something we can do about this? Because a lot of people seem to be having this problem, me included. Or is the rescore/ analysis packet the only option?

Remember, SAT essay grading is stupid. They judge you by your ability to use long words, even when a shorter word might fit the meaning better, and by the length of your essay. Whether your essay was “good” or not has nothing to do with what score you get. Examples you see of 12’s are horrible.

And don’t complain yet, you have nothing resembling proof, so you wouldn’t get anywhere. Lots of people score lower or higher than they expect.

Yes, it is true that alot of people score lower than they expected but now it seems as though many are getting really low scores for writing only, which can’t really be coincidental. I’ve looked online and there is an article a couple years ago where it said that collegeboard messed up some people’s test scores

Well im the worst… I got 2220 last sat, 640/800/780. This one i got 2040. I am positive that is not my score… Whatever u do, im with u. And im very happy im not the only one. Thank you for speaking up

And i have been gettin 2300+ in all practice tests…

My writing score went form 740 last SAT to 660 this SAT…and I got the same essay score despite the fact that I know I did way better this time. Has anyone ever got a better score after requesting a rescore? And when is the deadline for it?

^five months after the test date

Yup lots of talk going on about a possible error in the October 6 SAT scoring, particularly the writing section. I was so surprised I got the same score 2 times in a row even though I was really positive I did better the 2nd time.

that could just be the result of a curve. usually october’s curve is the harshest.

Some of my friends weren’t affected, so I don’t think its the curve that’s pulling some down.

My writing score decreased by <100 points. That is a 100+ point discrepancy. It was the worst in writing (I got a 7 essay, LOL), but my math and critical reading scores were also adversely affected. I am eager to see the Q&A on the 30th.

I got a 7 on the essay as well and I got an 8 last time but my October one was way better. My score dropped 60me points

Do anyone of you decide to order the hand scoring verification? I mailed my request form today’s afternoon. I’m in the same situation as that of many people here… I expected I could get more than 2200, and at least 700 in CR, but I got just 500. In January I took my first SAT and got 600. I knew it was not a high score but how could I become lower (MUCH lower) after 9 months… (In May I got 670, but low scores in writing:(…So I don’t want to send my score in May SAT test)
