Is the interview offer given to everyone (given that you live in a place where alumni might live) or given to those who passed the initial screening/cut?

Yes, I got invited to interview, but have no idea whether there was a screening process

im in nc, didnt get one

In CA, didn’t get one.

i didnt get one, in PA

occ, i finally got one. On friday. I called him up immediately, and he is the coordinator and interviewer for this area. He is in Long Beach, but I am meeting him at his work in downtown LA. This was like 2 weeks after those other ppl got their interviews and posted on here. So, it might be a rolling thing that is completely arbitrary?

Oh and p.s. There was a guy who posted in the last thread that he didnt even get an interview offer and he was accepted no problemo.

I go to school in New York and didn’t get an interview either.

JGee, that’s awesome. Why won’t they call me? lol, I’m like right next to LA. Is Gtown your first choice?

no gtown is not… only because i have like my dream schools as my first choices of course… then some other schools that I applied to (hopkins, nwstern, wellesley) … but as far as my realistic schools: georgetown, tufts, berkeley, it depends on who gives more monieeeesss.

Maybe ull get in without interview!! keep me updated.

This is kind of strange and interesting I thought Georgetown offers interview to EVERYONE.

Would those of you who got offered/or not offered list your college GPA?

Offered an interview with 3.6 GPA

in the verification email i got after submitting the app, they mentioned sending me a second email with more details and i still havent gotten that…

ok just had my interview today… i cant say how it went because i am quite unsure about it. he was super nice, but i felt that i didnt get a chance to answer all his questions. but he was so cool and had an awesome past after gtown. Also, he was from back east so we could relate because we are both transplants to LA. plus i paid 21 bucks for parking for 1 hour =(. but i parked right next to an open lot that was 6 bucks a day…argh. p.s. my gpa is 3.87.

Currently have an interview set up for April 1 in Pittsburgh area. It was mentioned to me that the last day to turn them in is April 1 (not really a deadline, just should be in by then). GPA is 3.77, but will be dropping to (estimating) a 3.4ish due to me overloading on classes this semester >_< Georgetown doesn’t request updates on grades does it?

JGee, I have my interview set up for April 7th. How ‘formal’ was the interview or was it mostly just a back and forth casual conversation?

i take that back. i got an interview. maybe they’re doing it rolling?

weitz, I dressed in business cas/formal. I am female, so It consisted of a black suit dress, conservative dark stockings, closed toed rounded toe (NOT POINTY TOED) heels (NOT STILETTOS). Very conservative on the jewelry too, one pearl pendant/necklace silver, silver watch (not big or flashy) and small pearl stud earrings. As for makeup, just foundation, I wore my glasses so no mascara, and no lipcolor, just light moisturizer.

The interview, well to tell u the truth the two interviews I had so far for Wellesley and Gtown, were less formal very back and forthish. But that is totally because that is how I work. I am very comfortable just chatting and I dislike Q&A interrogations. He was just totally in jeans and a T, but it was at his office downtown (he is like a director). We talked about his work, the things he does, our past love of the d.c. metro area, and irks about LA. He had a sign on the wall that said (X X part of the no cussing club! since 2006). So I was blabbing about how I have strong morals and blah blah.
For Wellesley, we ate Pho (that vietnamese noodle soup) and it was splashing everywhere, she happened to be from a VERY nearby town in NoVA and knew the street I lived on (but my street is a pretty well known road Chain Bridge Rd).

Pretty much this is what they wanna know (he spelled it out for me in the beginning), Why Transfer? Why Georgetown? What makes you tick? What did you do in HS/College (as in on campus and how active are you in the community)? What do you have passions for? Why your major and again why georgetown for your major?
I gave a nice resume spelling out all the things I was in in college. All the leadership, and fundraising, volunteering, etc. He actually then asked me about being chief newsletter editor and the Rotaract thing I am in, but ignored the honors crap and vice president this and that.

Maybe my blabbing covered all of it.
He asked Do you have any Qs about georgetown for me?
Because my guy graduated from SFS and worked in politics, and I want to work in politics, i asked him about how close he was to politics as a student and how it was for him after georgetown in politics.
Simply, he answered with a intriguing story about his part in the Bob Dole for pres in 96 campaign. He started as a Junior interning in politics, and it was so easy for him to get internships, he was highly competitive coming from gtown hands down.
I know so much about georgetown growing up there and going to a close by private school in elem/middle school so I didnt ask any about the area. We talked about the show 24 and family guy, because his company works to nix family guy from network TV. The director of fundraising actually stopped me to ask me where I was taking him to lunch and also asked why I wasnt applying to UT austin a real school. But he gave me his card to tell me to give it to someone who was rich who wanted to give their cause money.

So, in summary, I came there dressed formal and prepared to be interrogated, but took control fast and turned it into a conversation. SMILE!!! The guy said, he barely gets to see his interviewees smile. I laughed too.

That helps alot so I can prepare for these questions. As a first year applicant, I only did one alumni interview with Macalester College and it was VERY informal. Basically, the Gtown alum interviw is similar to a college interview on campus. My interviewer arranged to meet me at Starbucks so I am sure it will be enjoyable.

JG, Are you applying as a Soph or Junior student
