I received an email from a college I applied to a few weeks ago, and it told me to apply for financial aid and to fill out my FAFSA form with that school's specific code and to apply for scholarships from that specific school. The schools is pretty far from where i live, so does this mean i could be accepted and just havent gotten the letter yet? the weather has been pretty bad lately, and obviously an email is instantly delivered and a letter could take a while. So confused.

We wouldn’t be able to answer this question. Perhaps if you say which school it is, as now this is very vague, but even then it is not likely that anyone here on CC can answer your question.

Call the school tomorrow and they’ll be able to tell you for certain if you have gotten in.

Oh, Rice reminds students to apply for fin-aids all along until the D-Day. And the majority of Rice applicants get rejected. Treat it as a process reminder and nothing else.

You have to apply for financial aid before most schools (except rolling admissions) even act on your application. That way you can get your FA award at about the same time as your acceptances, so you can make an informed decision on where to attend.
