Im a junior this year, and up until now, Ive been an almost straight A student except for 1 or 2 classes which I got a B in for 1 semester each. Last year I took 2 ap classes, bio and world history, and was able to handle the work load with no real problems. This year, im really struggling. Im in 5 ap classes, and im working my butt off, and im still failing things left and right. It seems that no matter how hard I try or how much time I put into something, I never get the test grade I wanted. Im really worried that if my grades dont pick up soon, my gpa is going to be shot. Right now I only have 2 A's (low A's at that, 92ish), 2 B's(again, low Bs), and 2 F's(nearing a C). I just hate studying for hours for tests and reviewing all my notes and homework, then getting my test back and seeing another F.
Anyone have any suggestions? I cant drop any courses til the end of the semester, but by then it may be too late to save my GPA. I dont really have much more time to invest in my work. Ill normally take an hour or 2 break each afternoon, but other than that, theres no sports or hanging out time, its all studying. This is the most discouraged ive ever been, and its really eating away at my chances at my dream/reach schools. Ive already crossed several ECs off my list because I dont have time any more.

you sound burnt out...and your gpa is at stake..I was in a similar dilemma, but I switched out. I can see that your working real hard so working harder isn't a solution. Talk to your counselor, and insist that you change...why can't you? We can in our school...But if you can't, talk to the teachers and ask them why you aren't doing so well..good luck!

Apparently both me and my parents signed something before school started that said im not allowed to transfer out of an AP class until the end of a semester, regardless of my grade. My teachers aren't really much help; they insist I'm not trying and that I'm not studying enough, and my parents tend to agree with them.

perhaps you're putting a lot of time into studying, but you're not studying correctly...which ap's are you taking?

Yes, and you need to switch from the 1-2 most time-consuming AP classes to regular ones. Make a BIG STINK about it. Since your parents and teachers aren't helping, try the department chair. If the department chair can't help you, go to the dean/principal. If the dean/principal can't help you, go to the superintendant.

Normally, you shouldn't rock the boat. But this is a situation that clearly calls for it. Your parents may be upset, but they'll get over it given enough time. Trust me, other teens have done FAR worse things than you. 10 years from now, nobody will care that you couldn't hack it in 5 AP classes at once.

im in physics B, english lang, stat, comp sci ab, and calc bc.
Stat is no problem, its not hard at all. Physics is manageable. I put maybe 2-3 hours per week into it, and I get about what I expect. Those 2 classes are my highest grades.
The other 3, english, comp sci, and calc, are the ones that Im getting nothng out of. I spend so much time, but no matter what I do I just keep getting bad grades. The teachers all give me extra work, not for extra credit, just for practice, but I still just keep doing bad on tests, even if I understand the concepts....ugh

Omg rickportega Im in EXACTLY the same situation only with different courses.

Im trying my best to switch out off AP Physics B but they told me the same semester-end thing only the idiots don't understand that by then I might have already murdered my GPA. =(
