Did I get rejected because of...

A student made an accusation against me only a few weeks before the admission decisions were made for UC Berkeley. The decision was not backed up with any evidence, so I normally would not think it affected my status at all. However, I've just been rejected, and while I understand that Berkeley is competitive, people (even in my own school) with similar and lower application credentials have been accepted. I understand that it is possible that Berkeley sees these applicants as stronger than me, but I do not think it would be by much. We yielded similar results for previous colleges. Also, keep in mind that I've been accepted to UCLA already and even received an "engineering likely letter." While normally I would suspect this means nothing, I noticed other CC members who got this recognition were strong applicants. Since the complaint I have received numerous calls from UCLA, but haven't actually been able to answer one... I fear the worst.

I have several questions:
1) Do you all think that this complaint against me could have possibly affected my admission status? Keep in mind the accusation makes me look somewhat bad and unethical.
2) Do you think Berkeley would ever tell me if this had any bearing on my application status if I called or emailed them?

Admissions offices usually specifically ignore all these sorts of accusations. They know that there are over-competitive people who will stop at no lengths to bring others down so they can get ahead, even using unethical means.

Unless the accusation was signed and from a reliable source (i.e. teacher / school), it’ll likely be discarded and completely ignored.

Cal’s has very competitive admissions. Most people who apply don’t get in. Hope UCLA works well for you.

most likely not
even if that was the case you’ll never find out anyway don’t worry about it

also the thing about people in your school with slightly worse stats getting in but not you… happens everywhere it’s not just you

just means more factors(or maybe whim?) are taken in consideration than purely whoever has higher stats

my school had similar incidences (and i was one of those students with slightly worse stats, but i still got into cal while some people didn’t)
also the valedictorian didnt get into stanford but our salutorian did, etc.
TOO BAD UCLA WAS MY DREAM SCHOOL AND I DIDNT GET IN THO grrrr drinks a shot of vodka
