Many people were recommending the Barron's 2400 book which I thought had 3500 vocab words in it. It didn't, and in Booksamillion, I found this book called Barron's How to Prepare for the SAT 2007-2008. This one had thousands of vocab words and tons of pages. Does the 2400 book include things that this bit book doesn't? Is the big book fine?

I have the same book, Barron's How to Prepare for the SAT 2007-2008. I don't have the 2400 book. As far as I have been studying this book, it seems good, I love the math sections. 2400 book does not have the 3500 word list, really??

It has this 200 word list at the end(I didn't count but I knew it wasn't 3500). In the back it just said Common words, but for Core words it said either use the Barron's Hot Words for the SAT or this big book. This book cost me $30, and I already have the Princeton Review 2007, Kaplan 2007, and Collegeboard BlueBook.

I'm not studying as I should be, I'm not doing as many drills and I'm just reading these books through quickly. If I have until January 26th, how many of these words do I need to do a day? It's like 2.5 months(75 days) and 3500 words, but I might do more than the required for one day on occasion like the weekends. The Princeton Review book also has a good 100-200 words which I can look at. Are the Barron's tests accurate like the CollegeBoard ones?

Barrons - 3500 list had every word on the oct SAT except Halcyon (surprisingly was one of the few words that i knew)

Blue Book (CollegeBoard) - BEST practice tests out there cuz they are made by the people who actually made the SAT.

Someone please tell me what Halycon means. That was the first thing I read on this forum when I registered(which motivated me to buy this book).

-Obviously it would help, but would learning all the vocab from the blue book also be of use? There are so many vocab lists, and I have great short term memory but I have never done a long term memory on this big of a scale! I also have Sparknotes's 1000 words
http://img.sparknotes.com/content/testprep/pdf/sat.vocab.pdf

I hear that the 11 Princeton Review tests are good, but I will still look more closely at CollegeBoard. What are the chances that Barron's 3500 will have most of the words, if not all, on the following SATs such as the Janurary 26th?

ALSO REALLY QUICK, is it too late to sign up for an SAT test before the January one without paying a late fee of $22??

idk about the registration... barrons 3500 list is bound to have some of the words on each SAT. and Halcyon means :calm, tranquil, kingfisher.

here are my thoughts....
I've never heard of barrons how to prepare for the SAT book, but the 2400 book was more for people who are aiming like above 750 on each section.
As for words, i see absolutely no point in memorzing over 1000 words. I memorized probably 700 or so, and got 1 vocab question wrong. You can EASILY use process of elimination with the most common 600 words

Wait, are you saying that the Barron's 2400 book is better? Please tell me which is better for me because this cost me $30 and the Barron's one was like $15 and I'd rather get the better book. I definitely want a 700+ on each section, so is the big book useless? Obviously it has good strategies, but am I better off with this extremely small book?

Have u compared the notes? Like take one chapter and see how the explanation is between the books. How the strategies defer. Maybe the big book has more exams in the end??

I have never heard of the other barrons book, but i can tell you that barrons 2400 is prepping you to get above a 700 on each section. They assume you can get like 650 already, and bascially train you from then on. But like i said, i dont know about the big barrons book.

RahoulVA: If you can score around the high 600s (670, 680, 690) per section already, then the Barrons 2400 would probably be more beneficial for you then the other Barrons Book.

is barrons 2400 a good CR book? b/c right now i only have the blue book, and it's actual material is quite bad and short (but good practice sections)

kevinscool, so u raised ur english score from 23 to 34...impressive, do you take any ap english courses? AP physics? AP Economics? AP Spanish? EPDM? Just wondering to see how I can improve my score...

I want a 700 on each section at least, but I am aiming for a 750 on each. As for my current situation, I'm #1(expect to get Valedictorian) in my class and I know that doesn't say I'll get a high score but I'm smart. Not worried about math except for the hard level questions which I'll always get 60-70% of them and all E-M. I like writing and its core is just like math so I can relate that to my math skills. CR is what I struggle in but I feel myself getting better and I Think that this BArron's book can help me. I have the big Barron's book, but are you guys saying that I should return it to Booksamillion and get the Barron's 2400 book? My current situation:

Have 3 SAT Books(Kaplan, PR, Blue Book, and Barron's)
The Barron's cost me $30! Quite a lot but worth it in the end, but still, $30!

The Barron's has 3500 words. While people at school have freaked out and people sometimes tell me it's not necessary, this list still looks amazing and it wasn't just some look in a dictionary and find 3500 words; Barron's has taken SAT words that appear frequently and they're words that I don't know. The reason that I bought this book was because of how much people on this forum were talking about this list. It's still so much to memorize, but it's all I have. It's not like sparknotes 1000 words is better than this! Should I keep this book and get the 2400 along with it?

Keep it and get the other book too! I cant seem to find the 2400 book in my town (:
Good luck!
