Did I hear the wrong information (SAT II Language Tests)?

Someone told me that because so many native speakers take the test, that it's advised not to take the SAT II Language Tests.

I really want to take French but I heard that the curve is a bit unfair since many fluent speakers take the test and I heard this goes for Spanish, Chinese, Italian, pretty much every language...

So do colleges know what languages we are native speakers of or not?

Also, I heard that the SAT II tests are supposed to be designed to test you on a HIGHSCHOOL curriculum....but I want to take French but all of the French I learned was from the local college and from self-studying so is this okay?

Thanks

I put this in the wrong forum but…bump.

The average score for French is 612 (621 w/ listening), which isn’t so bad. Native speakers are a big concern with Chinese (listening: average score of 764) and Korean (754).
