Applications are in for Duke(econ), Cornell(engineering; alternate: economics) and Carnegie Mellon(Business); and I think I just flushed 210 bucks down the toilet lol, do I have any chance at all?

Thanks everyone in advance.!

You have a decent shot. Your extracurriculars seem good, although they may not set you apart from other asians. Your SAT scores are rather low for an Asian applying to engineering. From what I've heard, talking to other male engineers, most had math scores close to 800 for the SATII, same with physics. What were your AP scores?

Also, a lot with depend on your essays and how much you talked about things such as your start-up company and how you spun that to your advantage. Also, the teacher recs will count for a lot. I don't think you wasted any money in applying to those schools. Although I dunno about the UCs being backups. From what I've heard they tend to weigh test scores more heavily than the private universities on the east coast.

Well, I can't give you chances, but I can give you advice since I was in the same boat last year. You probably have a better shot at Cornell than Carnegie Mellon since CMU's adcom really likes to play the numbers game with the SAT scores. In fact, one of the alumni told me that they use a numerical formula to determine whether to admit you or not. The robotics projects you did on your own don't carry any weight in the process. On the other hand, Cornell's admissions process is much more holistic. They'll really read your essays and portfolios and take other factors into consideration like how interested you are in the school. Look up Cornell's AUV team and write your essay about that, since it's a big deal in the engineering college. Also, emphasize your community service on your application. CMU likes that. IIRC, they even have a section on the common app supplement for it. I'm not sure about Duke since I don't have any experience with their admissions process. It really depends on how SAT-oriented the school is.

I defiantly think ull get in somewhere, Duke maybe more of a reach than the others, but ur ECs show focus and passion even tho they arent plentiful. I think ull be fine
