Just applied Stanford Early Action. What are my odds with:

a 4.13 gpa with many IB/AP's
all 4s and one 3 on AP's
URM
29 ACT 740 and 660 SATII
Class Vice President and accomplished soccer player
Published Chemistry research at University of Buffalo

What you think? Its a long shot of course but give me some feedback

ACT ranges for top schools tend to be lower because in the past people sent in more SATs than ACTs ... however ACT score ranges have been going up lately ... like nowadays MIT has a 31-35 range.

For you ... it's hard to say whether it will hurt you or not. An ACT of 29 isn't bad.

well its not like i think im getting in, I have a long list of more possible schools. But the worst thing that happens is I blew $75 and its worth that chance. I would love to go there.

Depends upon how good you are at soccer. As an URM with a 1400/1600 SAT & published research plus leadership, you may get in. If you are good enough to play Div. 1 soccer, you are in & just don't know it yet.

Oh yeah supereagle10 you just got that award for Math/Science today
list that
I hope you get in!!!
IMO that ACT score won't hurt or help you. It'll just qualify you.

If you can play for Stanford, that'll increase your chances tremendously.

Also make sure to write your ec's in the best possible light, like:
Instead of anything like "raised x amount of money at this event" write "did the first ever this event and raised money for x charity"

The ACT won't kill you, but it won't do you insane amounts of good either. EC's are average, but the published research will look great, especially if you're applying with a science-related major in mind. URM will definitely help, but I don't know how much.

I'm figuring you'll be deferred, but you do have a shot. Good luck.

well it is stanford we're talking about here. I myself dont think im getting in after seeing just a little bit of what im up against. In fact i'd be stunned if i got in.
